Local Groningen Beer At Mr. Mofongo 🍻

What to do after strolling through the center of a city and climbing the steps of an old church the whole morning? Exactly, rehydrate! For us it happened to be the "bitter" kind of beverage called BEER!

We happened to explore the city in the province Groningen in the Netherlands and found a gastronomic restaurant and pub online in walking distance from our last stop. It's called Mr. Mofongo and according to their website the concept for the restaurant is based on the travel experiences from a certain Mr. Mofongo, who tried to "incorporate innovation and technique with sustainability and devotion into a gastronomic experience". This is reflected in their diverse menu options.

The interior and design felt rustic, (Mid) Western and evoked life in the South, whether it's the South in the US of A or cowboys in South America.

One of us ordered a glass of Dark & Stormy, which consists of Gosling dark rum, angostura, ginger beer and lime. This drink is for those who like the sweet taste of rum mixed with the tanginess of lime and ginger combined, with just a slight bitterness to it. It's a drink that goes down like water, that's how smooth it is.

The beer enthusiast amongst us wanted to try the locally brewed brown beverage and ordered Abels Ale Pacific IPA. This drink unexpectedly foamed a lot when pouring and we had to be careful not to spill any drop. It had an overall sweet fruity taste, with a slightly bitter and mild spicy flavor.

After tasting the Abels Ale I thought I had found my favorite beer so far, until someone else ordered Kon Minder - another ale from the same brewery - that had a good balance between sour and bitter, with the citrus flavor in the forefront and the bitterness as an aftertaste, without being overpowering.

So whenever I find myself in Groningen again, I'll definitely try more of their locally brewed beers, especially Kon Minder. Which beer did you enjoy last weekend? Let me know in the comments below 🤓.

delicious looking drinks! You really left! Are you traveling or you moved there?

Yes, we moved for work and taking the opportunity to get to explore new places, especially those we haven't been to yet.

After going all through that, chilling and enjoying oneself is vital, at least that is the best way to ease off the stress

There's nothing like a glass of beer (or whine) to wind down from the day.

I see that you were rehydrated after strolling in the city and climbing all the steps at an old church my dear friend. I may have not tried that beer, but indeed, that tasted good. More beers to enjoy with your friends and loved ones. By the way, happy national here day today! Have a nice time!

Hey thanks! Just now picking up where I left off with comments.
Here's to time with loved ones and a glass of beer! 🍻

It should have been Happy National Beer day! Hehe, I made a mistake in typing it but indeed you are so smart to get what I mean my dear. I hope you are well and cheeers!
