Getting paid to drink my beer on Beer 🍺 Saturday
The last Saturday before Christmas and I am feeling chuffed as I have bought my Christmas beer and it is settling quite nicely.
Of course the clue is in the title!
Yes today I am being paid to drink two beers.
Not only do I drink the beers but I get food as well, I do talk about this sort of thing Mystery Shopping | Score Freebies & Easy Cash
But back to the subject of the post ...
BEER
Although it is beers and not beer!
Actually two beers or lagers as I would call them, and from two different countries!
Corona
Part of what we do is check the beer is served in a branded glass and has a slice of lemon.
This pub and this visit get a double yes!
Leffe
I do love the glass we get the Leffe served in, as it is a chunky mfer befitting the monastery that started it.
Fun fact and new to me ... thank you gemini ... Leffe beers are generally ales, not lagers, meaning they're top-fermented for a richer, more complex flavor profile.
Christmas time
As you can see the pub decor is in full Christmas theme with golden balls or more politely baubles and greenery everywhere.
You can of course see the blue patterned plates denoting the Wetherspoons chain of pubs.
I do love my turkey, so this was turkey and the trimmings. A wee tub of cranberry sauce and pigs and blankets.
Don't forget the stuffing, which reminds me I need to get some chestnuts.
What do you stuff your turkey with?
Chestnut stuffing is my favourite.
This reminds me that we had carrots as well as peas!
One thing that has always been lacking in the UK is water with your meal.
Which in Scotland is quite bizarre as we do have lovely water.
One good thing about this pub is this ...
Help yourself to Free Drinking Water
Yes they have fresh cold water on tap.
Just go up and help yourself.
While there you can always help yourself to a coffee if you have paid for one ...
Coffee anyone?
That took me back to the early days on the tsu platform when I lived in Spain.
I would sit and have a coffee and a beer, and we dubbed it having a TengoLoTodo!
The Corona was taking a beating.
Pudding time (or maybe you say desserts)
Sticky Toffee Pudding with caramel sauce. I used to love this as a kid!
I took mine with vanilla ice cream ... while Mrs T took hers with ...
... custard!
Meanwhile it was almost out of drink time.
Time for you to read the Stats while I finish up this Leffe!

We're Sorry it says the promotion has ended.
So I go and explore their website to gets stats etc ...
And ...
I am sorry to say I'm Sorry your website is quite possibly the worst Beer website in the UK!
So here is a little blurb direct from my Gemini AI!
Corona Extra, brewed by Cervecería Modelo in Mexico, is a hugely popular pale lager in the UK, with an ABV of 4.5%. Its light, crisp flavour and association with sunshine holidays make it a summer favourite. Often served with a wedge of lime in the bottle neck, it's widely available in pubs, supermarkets and off-licences throughout the UK. Despite its Mexican origin, it's become a staple for those seeking a refreshing and easily drinkable beer.
Never been a fan to be honest, but it is free so I won't complain too much!
Stats 2 .... Leffe
Screenshot Source Leffe website
So much better a website than Corona!
You would think Corona would up its game since they are both owned by Yes, both Corona and Leffe are ultimately owned by the same company Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) is a multinational drink and brewing giant headquartered in Belgium. Which just happens to be the world's largest brewing company, owning hundreds of beer brands globally.
One thing I can't abide is incompetence and letting your info on a website is incompetence on the part of their webmaster for starters. Another thing is misleading customers, even if they aren't guilty of incompetence then they are misleading us!
Rant over...
So here is a little blurb direct from my Gemini AI!
Leffe, a Belgian abbey-style ale, is a popular import in the UK, known for its rich history and flavourful brews. While no longer brewed in the abbey itself, it maintains its traditional character. In the UK, you'll commonly find Leffe Blonde (6.0% ABV) and Leffe Brune (6.5% ABV), brewed by InBev Belgium, offering a taste of Belgian brewing heritage with its characteristic fruity and spicy notes. It's widely available in supermarkets, pubs, and off-licences, often enjoyed from its signature chalice glass.
I have reviewed their stats before and you can find a bit more in this post if you are interested Leffe Blonde wins over Mrs T from last year!
My Verdict
I do prefer the Leffe, it feels it has more kick and I find it smoother and tastier to be honest.
The Corona I always find a bit meh and just taste the lemon from the ehm lemon!
The normal prices are around £4 a pint I think and the Leffe is the value for money.
Although it was a Christmas special and the turkey with an alcoholic drink I think was $14 and the pudding extra.
Posting about a beer on a Saturday on the Beer Community ....

Hey @tengolotodo you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
Cheers! Agree that Corona sucks. But Leffe is perfect for me.
I once drank a non-alcoholic Leffe Blonde in Belgium, and I didn't feel any difference at all. It was only after two that a colleague mentioned to me that it was non-alcoholic.😀
It's sometimes available in our shops.
Getting paid to eat and drink beer can only be a good thing!
Corona is fairly staple fare here in the States, although regarded by many only as the primary way to wash down less-than-brilliant tequila shots. It's a decent enough "beach beer" when you're on holiday, though.
Happy Christmas!
Getting paid to drink is something hilarious😬. Would double my dessert in that case 😛😁
