BARC beer by WARC

My future daughter-in-law had a team party from work. At the end of the evening they got a present including 2 cans of special beer. Since she doesn't drink beer she brought them for me, sweet huh?

I didn't know the beers but it's a collaboration between an architectural firm and a well-known (local) brewery here. The Bronckhorster Brewing Company.

Below is a quote from the brewer's website.
"Bronckhorster Brewing Company is a brewery that crafts both classic and innovative beer styles.
The privately owned brewery is surrounded by the beautiful and historic landscape of the Achterhoek. We are a proud and committed member of the local community.

Head brewer and founder Steve Gammage leads a talented brewing team that develops recipes to produce high-quality beers. We do this by working with only the best ingredients. The team strives to brew beers with unique flavors. Through these flavors we want to evoke stories about people and places that have inspired us and that emphasize our ties to the Achterhoek and its history.

Sharing this passion with others is our goal."

In this collaboration they brewed two types of beer. A stout and a white beer. The names of the beers are nicely thought out, they come from color numbers. In the painting world these are called RAL numbers.

RAL910 is Pure white.
RAL905 is Jet black.

Funny, right? The name BARC comes from the name of the Brewery (Bronckhorster Brewery) and the name of the architectural firm (WARC). The logo then again made based on the dog "Tjibbe".. And so the circle is complete.

And how do they taste?
I started with the stout beer, I generally think dark beer is the tastiest beer. I also really like double beers and triple beers. Usually, in the weekend, I get a six-pack of special beers.

At the first sip I was pleasantly surprised by the taste, a full, powerful taste. Very different than I had imagined, knowing previous stouts. They really tried to develop a characteristic taste and they succeeded.

I think the best way to describe the taste is as a strong, dark malt flavour with a fairly bitter aftertaste.
I like a nice firm head, and this beer had just the right amount of foam.

Bassie (our dog) didn't like it that much, he didn't even try ;)

Have a great day !!

This looks really interesting. I tried some craft beers this weekend myself. I really like how clean the can looks.

Yes indeed, nowadays the cans are more busy with prints than with a good beer :)

For sure!

I'm not a big stout drinker, but I'll have it sometimes for a change. There are so many beers out there and this one could be quite rare. Hope you enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it very much Steve. And indeed, it almost seems to be (at least here in Holland) that every city at least has to have a couple of brewery's :)

Sometimes if we judge a new drink from the color we may miss something sweet and cool, you can imagine if you were not comfortable with both the color and the mixture you would have missed.

Absolutely, I never judge before I have tasted it :)

And you enjoyed it

Help me say thank you to your future daughter in-law

I will, thank you :)

Most welcome
