PH ELECTIONS: Who's next?

in Hive PH3 years ago

Heyah Hivers!

Few hours left and it's the National Election Day. To be honest, I wasn't excited about it for the past months because I felt hopeless if our country could ever change or improve. There's still a lot of problems out there. The traffic is still unsolved, the heavy floods, unfixed roads, low wages, less opportunities, poverty, and many many more.

Is there really a hope?
Bakit ba kay hirap mahalin ng Pilipinas. I utter to myself in the midst of battling my thoughts.
As I process things in my head, the first thing I realized is how can I be part of this change? Can I take part of it? Will my action count? Will it matter? Then I paused and gathered my thoughts again. Change should start in myself by being a responsible citizen. So how can we do that? By being woke about the facts and reality not just by the information spreading in the internet but with thorough research and getting info from reliable resources. Now this is the first step for me. I actually love this https://votepilipinas.com/ because it contains in-depth information of all running candidates. Do check it out and exercise your right to vote.

So, what's next?
I asked myself again if what I am looking for a leader. Who we vote actually reflects what we value. So what do you value?

First, character.
I'd look into the character of the person through his/her platforms and policy. From that lens you'll see what the person values and stands, that's why doing your research would really help. It's also important that this leader has a good track record and not just merely popular. Integrity should be one of the basic element of good leader, and a good leader should also be a good listener especially to the vulnerable ones.

Second, education.
A leader should be well-informed and knowledgeable of what they are doing. Checking their educational attainment is a plus because this is a great help for them to be the expert of what they are doing and so that they can make decisions not based on emotions but with rational actions and expertise in responding such situations. This is not discrimination, but right education is essential for a leader to make sound and holistic solutions. We need brilliant leaders because we have a big big problems in the present.

Third, and my last...experience.
What are the accomplishments of this leader so far? What are their contributions in solving present problems in our country? In public office or in private sector? Check out the bills they've authored and passed. Examine how it is helping you and the community. The major advocacies they've led and groups they're supporting.

Now, who's next?
We don't know what tomorrow holds but whoever wins, I know deep in my heart that I did my part. There's nothing to regret. Vote what you value. You decide.

That's it and have a goodnight rest. Don't forget to vote fellas!
