The Reason: My Hive Story

Hello mga ka-Hive. How are you? I would like to share to you guys how I got into Hive.

The reason.

Now I somehow figured out one of the reasons I took up Bachelor of Arts in Communication in College. People often asked me of my chosen course and I honestly can't seem to find a right answer to it. An alumna told me by the time I enrolled in the University was that BA Communication is like Journalism. It got me thinking that I own a journal and I love writing. Those were my factors for choosing my degree. Weird right but somehow it made sense.

The degree dwells about photo journalism, investigative journalism, film making, technical and creative writing, newswriting and radio broadcasting where creative writing intrigued me. Those writing subjects really enhanced my skills. After graduation, I was not able to make use of my degree and took a different path. Honestly, I don't see myself working in the world of media. I believe it was not for me.

However, I do really have a passion in writing. I own several journals and wrote some stories in Wattpad. I even made some blog accounts in different websites to share my stories especially travels. However, grit was an enemy to me. It was all long forgotten. Not to brag, my stories in Wattpad had many readers unlike my blog which had none. I somehow wanted to pursue this path.

Fast forward to July 2024.

One of my close colleagues just randomly shared to us about blogging while we were on our way to the biometrics to punch in. I did not closely pay attention to it but got a little interest. I initially shrugged the idea. Not until one day, she chatted me and asked for a photo of a certain event we attended. And that was when I got the full details of the community. It piqued my interest and my heart for writing sparked. I knew in my heart that I need to join and be onboard.

She then introduced me to miss @jobeliever who was very patient and kind in walking me, a newbie, through Hive. They told me to create an introduction blog which contains a story about yourself, your hobbies, your passions and such to which I diligently and excitedly followed.

I could not contain my feelings that time that I finished my introduction blog in just few hours. I could still remember how loud my keyboard was while I typed fast each words for my blog.

After a few hours, VOILA, my account has been set-up. That was the official start of my blogging journey in Hive. I have so many stories to tell the community such as my previous travels and road trips. All were piled up in my mind.

I was also amazed with the immense support I received from the community. I was overwhelmed and overjoyed with the fact that someone has read and left some comments on my blogs. That alone was already an achievement to me. With that, I continued making more contents - posting every week and also reading some of the entries of my fellow hivers, supporting them. I actually got hooked and entertained that my day won't be complete without reading some of it.

Days after I joined, miss jo suggested to orient the three of us more about Hive and its community so that we get to have a wide perspective in it. And for her to answer our questions. I haven't met her personally. We just talked through messenger and I believe that it was best for us to see and meet each other face to face.

At long last, we finally got to meet last Friday, July 19 together with my two colleagues who happens to be my close friends. One of them had already known miss jo since they were college classmates.

But prior to our meeting, we struggled to find a meeting place where we could sit in and talk. We all wanted a coffee shop that offers affordable drinks that has enough space to accommodate four to five people. Don't judge us guys, we are all saving money. LOL.

We met at a certain coffee shop near the public plaza. They offered affordable yet tasty drinks. It is our go to shop whenever coffee cravings strike.

We greeted each other with smiles the moment we met each other. The place was kind of small but enough to accommodate us four. Thankfully, there was only us in the cafe. We were worried that we might disturb other customers. We know our capability, we talk and laugh out loud.

We made our order first and headed to our seat. While waiting for our orders to be served, she narrates her story of how she joined the Hive Community, how it helped her and so as the other people. She then proceeded to orient us about Hive, its community, the engagement and the such. She also answered our questions and enlightened us. The conversation went so naturally that it felt like we have known each other and been friends for such a long time.

Our orders arrived and immediately drank it as we were already thirsty.

Cheers to the newly found friendship.

I honestly felt like it was not an orientation but a friendly discussion. A discussion full of learning, encouragement, Hive enlightenment, and inspiration. It did inspire me to create more content to share with the community. My dream of being a blogger has been realized and truly, my passion for writing has a purpose.

I am still few weeks in Hive, a neophyte I would say. But so far, I am loving and enjoying the journey. I know I still have a long way to go on this. And I still have so much to learn. I know joining Hive will surely improve my creativity and enhance my writing skills.

I can’t wait to share all what was in store of me and I hope you would still continue to support me as I will do the same.

Now I found one of the reasons of taking my degree.

That’s all guys. Thank you for reading. Until my next blog.

With so much love - XOXO,
Bev 😘
