Electrical Installation and Maintenance NCII

Hello Hive Fam, welcome to another blog featuring my twenty-five day training period as an EIM trainee of TESDA. Come and read my experiences about this significant milestone of my life.

Our Barangay Captain told me about the upcoming training for EIM in our barangay, he told me that the training would be for free and will gave the trainees a money incentive and electrical tools after we completed the training. It catches my attention given that it would also serves as my edge among others if I have a National Certificate II (NCII) from TESDA. And so, I immediately grabbed the opportunity, since there were no classes that time (last summer 2023).

The free training from TESDA is in partnership with the Cebu Province through their program called "Sugbo Kahanas". Our training provider was the Balamban Extensive Skills Training, Inc. (BEST), they accompanied and taught us through out the training period.

It was a very good experience and an opportunity for me to gain skills pertaining to EIM, plus it will gave me an NC II which I can use when I apply for work in the future. During the training period we are tasked to make wiring diagrams, from line diagram to schematic diagram, everyday we were given assignments about these diagrams and our trainer let us perform our designed diagram in front of our classmates. Aside from that, we also had learn about the tools and materials necessary in electrical installation and maintenance. These basic tools include pliers, screwdrivers, tester (analog and digital), wire stripper/cutter, heat gun, bender, and others. After the days of training, we were then assessed. We were assessed through a series of examination. The first part is the written exam, followed by hands on demonstration, and last the oral exam.

In the hands on demonstration, we are tasked to light up a bulb with one way switch and a two bulbs with two way switch. We also have to make the fire alarm ring, and make the smoke and heat detector work. Aside from that, we also installed CCTV Cameras and monitor. My experience with our assessment was very nervous, because we were told by our assessor to try only once, once we've tried and it doesn't work then we are done, meaning failed. As I switched on the breaker, my hands were shaking but as I switch on the switches it all worked out, thanked God. I am the first to finish my assessment. It was very fulfilling, that I finally had concluded my 25 day long training period.

After our successful assessment we then planned to go for an outing together with our trainer. We take a dose of the sea at Maravilla, Tabuelan, Cebu, the famous white sand beach in Tabuelan. I cherished all the memories together with such an incredible classmates in EIM, and I am also thankful to our trainer for giving us all the best, and of course to God for letting me experience this one of a life opportunity.

Afterwards, months later the completion of training, we are finally recognized as graduates. It's our graduation time, held at Sogod Gymnasium. We were there together with the other scholars of Sugbo Kahanas. Several courses are combined there, from EIM, Driving, Massage, Welding, Baking, and lots of other courses. There I am able to witness in person the governor of Cebu, the Congressman of 5th district and its Board Members. We then received our cash incentives alongside with our certificates of graduation and tools. We also had our National Certificate II which was emailed to us.

I am so grateful for this opportunity, that I am able to acquire skills, which is very important in our household. As of now I already have used my skills acquired. We were contracted to put up wiring and lights at the newly renovated Day Care Center of our Barangay. This opportunity has really helped me earn a living. Though I am not that good but its a good start for me to improve.
