Hello everyone! I wish you all well today as you read this blog. Let me share with you about the accident we had on our way to my wife's work station. It was a traumatic situation that affected our kids.
We never thought that it would happen to us, especially during a very difficult time. We were troubled because we lost a business that supports our needs. A business that we valued since we started it. But we tried to move forward and think of other means to achieve our dreams for our kids.
Last July 30, on the second day of classes for school year 2024-2025, we had an accident while riding our motorcycle. I drove slowly as I saw a dog nearby the road. But when we reached the point where the dog was staying, the dog ran to our motorcycle and was stuck in the middle of the vehicle. The dog reached my wife's ankle and got bitten. I was able to stop the motorcycle, and luckily we were not out of balance and remained standing in the middle of the road. My daughter was full of fear that made her mad at dogs running in the middle of the road.

The school nurse attended her and applied a plaster to the wound after we went to the Bogo CPH.
My wife got panicked when she was bitten by the dog. The dog ran away and we did not see its direction. Since I wanted to wash the wound immediately, I continued to drive going to the her work place. When we arrived there, I washed it with running water and soap. We were worried that time because we only had enough money for our daily expense. When her co-teacher whom she considered a mother at school arrived, she took a look at the wound and keep on asking how much would it cost for the anti-rabies vaccine. We answered that we did not know about it but for sure it's expensive.
We were shocked that her co-teacher gave her two thousand pesos so she can have the vaccine. We went to the Rural Health Unit of the Tabogon Town for the anti tetanus shot. The doctor on duty prescribed us to purchase the anti tetanus vaccine from the pharmacy. I immediately purchase it and went back to the RHU. My wife had it with the help of the nurses. We then went to Bogo City Provincial Hospital hoping to be catered for anti-rabies shot. When we arrived at Bogo CPH, the guard told us that the Doctor who will give the anti-rabies vaccine was on leave.

We decided to try at the animal bite center located in Borbon on Thursday since their schedule is only on Monday and Thursday. We asked permission from our school heads so that my wife can get the vaccine from the nearest animal bite center. We arrived early at the center. When other people came, they asked if we already had sharers for the vaccine. They mean that for a vial, there would be three people to share. So we feel relieved because at least we will not pay a higher amount.
One of our learners arrived at the center to get the same shot because he was bitten by a dog too. I asked them to share with us and divided the amount into three. We paid less than five hundred pesos each. We then purchase the vaccine and the syringes from the pharmacy nearby. When the attendant arrived, we submitted the doctor's referral and the vaccine. My wife got her first shot and was told to purchase another vaccine for the wound when we come back for the second dose. There were four doses for the rabies vaccine.

We came back for the second dose. The prescribed vaccine to be injected directly to the wound was expensive. But because we wanted to be at ease, we purchased it. On the third dose she told me that she will no longer take it because she already had the first two shots. I told her that she needs to complete it because we do not know what happened to the dog after it bit her.

This was the last day of receiving her anti-rabies vaccine.
Last August 30, she had her last dose of the rabies vaccine. At least she finished it, and she feels safe from the effects of rabies. We really did not expect it to happen. Especially that it happened during the least expected time. We were very thankful to the Animal Bite Center of Borbon, though there were no more free vaccines from the government. The attendant was very patient and friendly. Their efforts are commendable, and we hope they could help more people in the community.

Yes sir. Andami pala talagang pumupunta sa animal bite center para maturokan ng vaccine. Isa na talagang dahilan ay yung mga asong gumagala sa daan na pinapabayaan ng mga amo nila.

Ah, the local government should really impose a law for the dogs owners to be responsible.

I was worried about her at that time. The LGU already announced about keeping the dogs at home or else they will catch it. But sad to say, there are irresponsible fur parents. When their dog gets hit by a vehicle and dies, they will get mad at the driver. But when a driver gets injured because of their dog, they will not take the responsibilities.
There are ots of unexpected things that might happen, but we should always think that everything happens for a reason😊

It's a good thing that you have nearby clinic that specialize dog bites. It's scary ha especially you don't know the dog. The first thing talaga na dapat gawin is visit hospital para malapatan ng paunang lunas. Good to know po na okay naman sya and already had her last dose.
Yes, we were very lucky that Animal Bite Center of Borbon accepted us. Because before, there were people telling us that they would not accept people from other towns.
We were at the same dilemma weeks ago @cup-bearer when my nephew got scratched by their own puppy. It was too young to get vaccinated so we were really so worried. Im glad to know she got vaccinated, hope everything’s doing fine. Just like her, my nephew needed to have several shots as well.
