Christmas is said to be the most wonderful time of the year. Houses, trees, streets, plazas' and anywhere else were decorated with Christmas trees, lanterns, and any Christmas décor with Christmas lights. This shows that during this season, we must be happy for this is the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior. This celebration also reminds us of the importance of our family, showing our love and care to our family, friends, and neighbors just as God loved us.
Last December 7, 2024, was the official ceremonial Christmas lighting of Bogo City. That was the first time I attended a Christmas Opening Salvo and ceremonial Christmas lighting. I was amazed by the spectacular performance, fireworks display, and the sound of various bands in every corner of the plaza.
The event started with preliminaries followed by the opening salvo. The performance was so great and it surprised me. They portrayed the life of Jesus before Mary gave birth until Jesus was born. After the opening salvo, some Bogo city officials delivered their Christmas messages. After the message was the formal lighting ceremony. When the lights were on, fireworks started to display in the air. It was very fantastic and festive. Drums and bugles from different corners were played as if the band were competing with each other. All guests started to stroll around, thus making the place overcrowded.
The plazas were all occupied by visitors and I could no longer have the opportunity to take pictures with my children in every booth. Since it was my first time, I realized how festive it was during the lighting of Christmas Lights. That night, I can feel the spirit of Christmas in Bogo. With all the glamorous Christmas trees, lanterns, and other decorations in every booth on every corner of the Plaza, the place was so lovely and Merry.
With my three kids, we strolled around the plaza and proceeded to the night market. It was also the opening night so we tried to visit every stall and luckily I bought a pair of slippers and a glass of drinks. After a while, we decided to go home since we couldn't visit every booth in the plaza because it was very crowded with guests. We just plan to visit again the plaza on another night so that we could visit every booth and take a photo for our souvenirs.
