Hospitality

“It’s all about turning from the path of selfishness, conflict, division, and superiority, instead taking the path of life, generosity, and love”___Pope Francis

Being Hospitable is a Filipino Culture and Values that we are proud of. Yes, and I'm proud of it. Hospitality is the ability to entertain our guests or visitors. An act of inviting or offering our guests a drink or meal, giving a gift, treating them, and making them comfortable during their stay. It doesn't matter how much money we will spend or how much time we give to please or impressed our guests. What matters is we can provide them with the most comfort they need from us.

For today's blog, I would like to share with you all, how we entertain our guests from Camotes Island who visited our municipality to attend the Comelec Training last May 2022 Election. I am sharing this to not brag about anyone else. Instead, to motivate and inspire all Filipino people in the spirit of hospitality and generosity.

Last April 2022, my friends from Camotes Island called me via cellphone, that they had a seminar at Hagnaya Beach Resort on how to operate a PECOS Machine, prior to the Election this coming May 9, 2022. They must travel one day ahead before the training since they were from the Island. So, with that situation, they had a problem with where to stay on day Zero. They asked me a favor if it's ok to stay for one night at school? Since the school hasn't prepared. So, I just invited them to stay at our house. But our house is not along the highway, I convinced my sister to let them stay in her house. So, thanks to my sister, she agreed with me, provided I cooked them the food for dinner, snacks, and breakfast because she doesn't know how to cook and entertain a guest. So they stayed with my sister for 1 night.

Right after our dinner, we invited them for a tour. We brought them to Kapenarra Z and G Bonsai Garden, Cabancalan, Dakit, Bogo City, Cebu. There's no such beautiful, unique place that comes to my mind at that time, instead bringing them to that place and letting them enjoy the taste of coffee and super yummy cakes, slices of bread, and other delicacies. They enjoyed the scene very much, especially looking at various Bonsai displayed in the area.

After Kapenarra we brought them to Lapyahan as San Remigio to let them feel the cool breeze near the seashores and to have memorabilia that for once in their life they visited our municipality and I'm proud of it. We only have limited time with them, but our bonding is meaningful and memorable. We made sure that they had a wonderful time during their stay.

On the next day, I prepared breakfast for them. I let them eat breakfast before leaving. They had a full stomach before going to Hagnaya Beach Resort, the training venue. They proceeded to the training venue bringing the memories of their one-night stay with us. It was also an honor to have friends from other municipalities, and we can accommodate them at home nicely. Remenbering these quotes "sharing is caring" and "kindness begets kindness".

Being hospitable is our culture and values that can't be separated anymore. We can't deny that Filipinos are friendly. It is in our blood to care for someone, not only our family but also our friends, and for someone who needs help. Do you agree with me? How about you? Do you have these values? Well, I hope so.

That's all for today's Blog. I hope you will enjoy reading, dear Hivers!
