You may have heard someone say that he has no ability or talent. Maybe he can do something that others can't but he just doesn't consider it as an ability. No normal person lives without ability. We all have different abilities or talents. It only varies from one person to another. Maybe we inherited this from our talented parents and passed it on to us because we have also developed this passion. Or maybe we learn it in different ways because of our struggles. Whether it is visible or hidden, certainly it is a great help for us in living in this difficult world.
My dear Hivers let's talk about a type of talent. I thought of this to include in my article because this is unique in our place. This talent is not mine, but my beloved wife's.
Her talent is to make figures using beads and nylon strings. When we were engaged in marriage I thought that her skill was only on basics. I was late to know that she is proficient in making bead figures by hand because she did not boast any of her abilities. I only knew this after we got married. After our wedding, we brought her belongings to our house and there I was intrigued by the things she made from beads of different shapes and stunned by what I saw.
There are fruit shapes, jars, wine glasses, sailboats, placemats, purses, bags, necklaces, bracelets, and ribbons. I am totally amazed that my beautiful wife is so talented. I asked her. How did she get this ability? She said that she learned it in Hong Kong. In what way? Friends, I will talk a little about my wife's background.
My wife used to work in Hong Kong. During their rest day at work, they relax by going around the city where they enjoy themselves. Sometimes they go to beautiful parks, Hong Kong Disneyland, or Ocean Park. There she met her fellow Filipina who eventually became her friend. When they were acquainting with each other, her friend mentioned that while she was working in Hong Kong, she also had a sideline.
This is to make wedding giveaways using beads and nylon strings. My ex-girlfriend who turned out to be my wife mentioned that she needed it for our wedding. Her friend volunteered to teach her how to do that to save money. After all, she gave my soon-to-be wife a list of designs to buy and was taught the types of beads to use.
On their next rest day, it was time for her to study how to fabricate giveaways by hand with the help of her friend. This has become her routine during her rest days for several weeks. She gradually learned a lot of design. She is very grateful to her friend for this talent she has acquired.
A few months passed and she had become proficient in that ability. She started making giveaways for our scheduled wedding while she was in Hong Kong. Time has passed and her working contract with her employer in Hong Kong has finished. So she went home to Danao City, her hometown.
At that time I had a small-scale business being an assembler and distributor of purified water vending machines.
There were a lot of times when I visited her in Danao City and I tried to make figures out of beads. My wife taught me how to do it.
That's when I knew how hard it was. But what I find very difficult is that the holes in the beads are too tiny. It took me a long time for the nylon string to get into the hole. My eyes were going to hurt before I finished it. It looks easy as you observe but doing it by yourself is very hard. What I tried assembling is only the easiest. Little did I know that my wife already finished all the giveaways and after the wedding, I discovered more complicated designs. So I appreciate my wife's determination to learn and become skilled.
A few weeks passed and our wedding schedule arrived. The attendees enjoyed the giveaways they received because it was unique in their eyes. What made me even happier then was that my wife prepared it wholeheartedly for the most important occasion in our lives.
I was touched by my wife's wholehearted support for this big event. She helped a lot in preparing the things needed for our wedding. She never let me down. My wife showed a lot of sacrifice. From making complex figures with beads to making giveaways. The support she gave during the wedding made me think of an important lesson.
"True love recognizes no boundaries." In the Philippines, it is customary for the man to face all the obligations of the wedding. But my wife is different because she helps me so that I don't get burdened. She is the best gift of my life.
That's all for this blog. Thank you for reading this article.
