Yesterday, I went early to check the preparation of the municipal grounds and the civic parade. They prepared the chairs, tables, and tents. A lot was prepared to accommodate each barangay. Supposedly, 16 tents however the space was not that enough so they compressed it. As for the previous years, they are to butcher 16 pigs representing the 16 barangays of La Trinidad. The people will be accommodated according to their barangay as well. They will all be staying in their respective barangays.

The civic parade has started already, policemen were deployed also to ensure safety and to control the vehicles to lessen traffic jams. They held their banners high. Officials and employees of every barangay were invited to join. Private sectors, students and representatives from the Provincial capitol joined also. The policemen were first in the line and they showcased their talents in playing instruments. It was nice seeing and hearing their music while the parade was going on.

I stayed at the municipal ground to witness the arrival of the ones who joined the civic parade. All smiles from our municipal officials who arrived first together with the policemen who played the trumpets loud and clear.
After the civic parade, people stayed at the municipal ground to continue the program since a sumptuous lunch will be served at 12 noon. For the snacks, surely they'll serve the ever sweet potato with black coffee which the locality is also known for this food.

Hooray Saturday!
Drum & Lyre and street dancing competitions took place. Each was represented by each school around La Trinidad. Indeed was very colorful. The children were very energetic in dancing. Their dances were composed of traditional steps paired with their ethnic wear. Their costumes were one of a kind. They made and prepared their costumes and props.

The next competition was the Float parade which has two categories, Valley of colors and Recycled. For the participants, it would be each barangay. It was amazing colors of La Trinidad. The floats were made out of flowers and recycled materials. As we can see in the photos, it was beautiful and refreshing for the eyes. The flowers used were fresh from the garden so I can still smell the scent of the flowers.

When is the season for strawberries? I wonder if there would be a better month for La Trinidad to celebrate the festival as it just follows right next to Panagbenga in February.
