During the Vesperas of Sinulog Fiesta to honor Senior Santo Niño, it was a tradition to have a foot procession but even though I lived in Cebu City for five years because of studies and work, I only joined the foot procession once.
When I was staying in my hometown, I only joined the foot procession twice. It was last 2023 and 2024 together with @freshness143.
But, this year, the first plan was to join the foot procession yet unfortunately, we had a limited time because we had another task to do during that day and when we arrived at the route for the foot procession, it was already closed because the procession already started. So, the plan changed and the goal was to see the image of Senior Santo Niño during the procession but my husband told me that the image passed the route already.
I was quite disappointed when I heard it. So, not to be truly disappointed, we planned to wait for the last mass.
We wanted to pass the area but the procession was still going on and the area was closed and monitored.
I wonder why? When I saw the image of St. Joseph, I was quite hopeful because, in my mind, there was still a chance to see the image of Senior Santo Niño. After all, it cannot happen that the arrangement of the procession is the child would be the first one than the parents.
My thought was right when I observed the students monitoring the area became alert and closely monitored the place. It is a sign that the image of Senior Santo Niño is coming. I confirmed my thoughts when I asked one of the students if the image of Senior Santo Niño already passed and the student answered No.
So, when the image of Senior Santo Niño passed on my front, I was very happy because even though I did not join the procession, I was able to see the image and it was worth the travel and waiting for an hour in the area.
