Good day, Hiveans! I hope you’re fine while reading my blog today. Hello, July. Another month, another activity to do, and surprises to encounter. I wish it to be better than June. I hope so.
Today, I’ll be sharing one of my adventures in southern Cebu. It was way back in December 2019, when one of our college friends invited my husband now to attend the christening of his daughter. The place where our college friend was located in Barili, Cebu, and belonged to the southern part of Cebu.A person who likes to travel, I accompanied my husband to Barili, Cebu using his motorcycle bike. It was a great deal because we could stay with our friend who offered their house as our sleeping quarters since the distance from our place to Barili is 142.9 kilometers away and a 5-hour drive. To attend the activity, we need to travel early or in advance. We chose to travel in advance to have a great rest.
We traveled late afternoon and arrived at our friend’s house late evening. I was surprised by the place because it is in the mountainous part of the Barili and the pathway to reach is not motorcycle-friendly when it rains. My husband was not surprised because he'd been in the place twice. He attended many happenings of our friend. He attended the town fiesta and during our friend's wedding. I missed the opportunity to join because I had a post-graduate class. We went to their place in December, and it is a rainy season in our country. We experienced the challenging road while riding to their place. The good thing was we were safe and sound when we arrived at our friend’s house.
We have no activities on the day of our arrival since we need to wake up early for the christening mass.
Morning came the day of the event. The church was located in Barili’s downtown and the reception was near the downtown too. We proceeded to the venue reception after we woke up because our friend needed to prepare the area.
I was amazed by the reception because the place is a complete package. They offered many activities like swimming in a pool, riding a horse, and catching and feeding a fish. We had our breakfast at the reception and were surprised by their sweet and sour fish freshly picked from the pond. The taste was delicious. We also took a short swim in their pool. Their water from the pool comes naturally from the cold spring. The sad part was we did not ask the name of the venue. Now that I shared it, I will ask my friend about it if I have a chance.
We took a photo of the church. I didn’t know it was one of the oldest churches in Cebu, I just found out when my cousin shared that they already visited all the oldest churches of Cebu, and the church in Barili is one of the lists.
We had no chance to take more pictures because our time was limited and the people around us were too busy for the event. In addition, we were not a fan of capturing photos during that time since we were not married yet and didn’t know if we would last together, and it would be a waste to erase the pictures if we did not end up together. Overthinker. Luckily, we got married after the year of this travel. The year 2020. Pandemic couple.

That's interesting superstition that you have. It's my first time knowing that as an unmarried couple, you can't take pictures inside the church. Thankfully, y'all married :D so you can revisit the place again hehe
