My loveliest experience of Sunday life here in Hong Kong as a voluntary worker!

Spending my Sundays as a Voluntary Servant!

Yes! Here in Hong Kong there are lots of communities that we can join! Since I live in Hong Kong I love to meet people in church who are so busy doing something every Sunday. They are singing! They do cleaning. And there is so much more which I can experience when going to the Catholic church on Sundays.

This is so important for us because we OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) can go out for ourselves only once a week. And also because my dream is to serve people without them having to pay me back, doing some charity.

I grew up in a poor family and always had the dream of having a good life. At my young age I also tried out a lot of jobs to master my hard life and survive. Then, when I started to work abroad, at least I earned more than in my job in the Philippines: there I sometimes even couldn't eat 3 times a day as I had to save money. These days I ate only for lunch, no breakfast, no dinner.

Also because of this experience with having a hard time myself, one of the aims I pursue in my life is that I want to do more good things to others ... as we know, what we give is also what we will receive. I am a big believer in Christ. I am not that perfect, I know I made mistakes a lot of times, but I also know that my heart is pure.

I remember the first time I attempted to join the community was on my birthday, June 14, 2020, on a Sunday. At that time I felt so blessed in life, I was so happy that my situation had improved that I wanted to give something in return. So I offered someone in the St. Joseph Church to clean the toilet which they are doing every Sunday. But they replied that I can't just clean without joining the community as well. Thats how my routine started of doing work in the church and its sourroundings every Sunday. Sometimes we visit prisoners, homes for the elderly, helping kids and many more.

Today I'm showing you pictures of a project where I am playing with school children

As you can see in the pictures, these kids are so happy, and so I am as well... I don't know why, but I love kids as I love being like a kid myself sometimes, hehe... Well, I love to do whatever tasks are given to me, but I especially enjoy being with playing kids. I enjoy my time with them as I love to play like them, too... (isip bata ang lagay bah... hehehe). Actually, so far I visited this St. Louis School in Sai Wan Hong Kong only twice, for playing with and helping the kids. Seeing them happy fills my heart with joy.

Greetings @gen-quimba ,

What a beautiful post....lovely photographs and text...especially...'I am a big believer in Christ.' ..so is Bleujay...Here's hoping you have access to a Pastor who is teaching and translating from the original Greek Scripture of the New Testament.

Happy to see little ones are part of your Volunteer Situations as they are sponges for learning and so enjoyable.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

@bleujay Thank you so much... I love your comments... God bless po...

Hong kong is one of the places that I've always wanted to visit, but have not had the opportunity to do so. It's also near our country which makes it more affordable too. Hopefully, I will be able to travel there in the near future with my family and visit some of the nice places there. !LUV it. 😎

... because we OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) can go out for ourselves only once a week.

To be honest, in my eyes that whole domestic helper concept (the poor are working for the rich while giving up personal freedom) is kind of 'modern slavery'.
But that is not meant to criticize you, as I understand that everybody needs to earn money anyhow for their daily needs (and often in addition has to support family members).

I want to do more good things to others ...

That's really admirable that you are helping poor people even if not being rich yourself!

It seems you had a wonderful time with these kids! :)
