Hello, Hive! :)

It's been a month since my last blog. How are you all doing? I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays be it with family, friends, or just with themselves.

It has been a hectic month for me mostly because of school. I just spent my first finals at the university and no one warned me it is not just a week of busy schedules but a month full of performance tasks, quizzes, exams, and activities. I am not exaggerating when I say I am out even on Sundays to do the tasks I needed to do and still have different schedules of tasks in the morning and the afternoon.

However, I cannot deny that this month has brought so much fun, adventure, excitement, and peace to me.

Here's a little recap of how my December went:

Went to the Taoist Temple

Our final requirement for our History subject was to film a vlog at our chosen historical site here in Cebu. Our group chose to go to the Taoist Temple and it was a spectacular experience.

From our meeting place, we decided to ride a jeep to Cebu IT Park and ride a taxi from there to the temple. There were four of us and we split the fare equally. We paid less than 100 pesos for the fare which we did not expect but it was a good thing because it was already a cheap and hassle-free way to get there.

We already researched the temple and looked up some pictures on the internet but it is always more fascinating to see such a spectacular view with our own eyes. From the architecture down to the overlooking view of the city– the Taoist Temple was a great choice for our final project.

The place is so peaceful and it has a calm and serene ambiance which made me enjoy it. While we were filming our vlog, we also made sure to tone our voices down to not disturb the people praying in the temple and the tourists. It was also prohibited to take pictures of the altar so we focused more on filming the architecture of the place and the famous spot of the green dragons.

We enjoyed our visit there and planned to come back during our free time to enjoy the place without worrying about the task at hand.

Interviewed strangers for our Gender and Society class

I have always enjoyed watching vlogs on YouTube interviewing strangers but I did not expect that it was such a hard thing to do.

For our SOCIO class, we were tasked to interview working individuals of different genders about their lives and experiences in the workplace. The hardest part in doing this task was how to approach people and ask them to lend some time for the interview because everyone looked busy and some people also declined our offer.

We had to walk around and find people willing to be interviewed and thankfully, we were able to find some. I have realized that I am not that good in making a conversation with total strangers but I am still very thankful and happy for the experience I had.

Filmed a Virtual Newscasting Output for our English 100 class

When our instructor told us during our first day of class that we would film a virtual newscast for our finals, I could not contain my excitement. It has been one of my long-forgotten dreams to be a news anchor. I am always fascinated with how they talk very well and maintain their composure in front of the camera.

Together with my groupmates, we planned and did the set-up for our filming for hours. We expected to end our filming early but we were not able to because of certain circumstances. We also had a problem with our filming place but one of my groupmates let us film in her workplace and made us use one of the studios there. We were all very grateful because we wouldn't have finished our task if it wasn't for her.

She also provided us with lights and made us use her phone. Though we did not finish within the time we expected, we were still very happy with the result. We wrapped up at around 7 pm.

Filmed our Final Requirement for PathFit

Aside from Math, I was never really a fan of PE. I never liked doing dance and exercises for school because I easily get tired and it drains my energy. However, my PE groupmates made me love this class like it was my English class.

Within our group, we have shared a different kind of bond and fun moments which really made me enjoy our class everytime. Our class goes from 5:30-7:30 PM and every after our dismissal, we would take the elevator together and walk to the PUV stop to go home.

When we filmed our Final Requirement for the course subject, we were all happy and sad at the same time because it will be our last time together. We also kind of celebrated our last task together because the students who were having a Christmas party at the next room gave us food. 😅 It was a proof that every moment I spend with them turns out fun. We finished filming at 8 PM and said our goodbyes.

Presented the Business Plan for our Entrepreneurship Class

Crafting a business plan is no longer a first to us since we already did one in senior high school. However, presenting it to our instructor here in college is another thing. One thing I realized in college, we should never be complacent about the things we thought we already knew.

Our products are chocolate turon and cheesy squash lumpia and it's both so delicious! (I hope I can make it and share the recipe to everyone here.) During our presentation, we were actually required to bring the product with us so we cooked our products last minute and we were able to pull it off. (I do not recommend this though.😭)

I am just so grateful that I have the best people with me in the group. We helped each other a lot and we were able to fill in one another's lapses. Our presentation went smooth and we finished it strong.

These are just some of what I did in December that is why I wasn't able to find time to write here. When our classes ended last December 23, I decided to focus more reconnecting with the world (lol😂) and sleep more.

This month is by far the busiest I've been this year. Most of the things I did was also the tasks that I need to finish for our finals. I must admit that I have had several times where I will break down and just cry but that's just me releasing my academic stress. It may have not been the easiest month for me but I definitely am thankful for everything I learned and was able to experience this month. And as our semester and this year ends, I want to thank everyone I have met along the way.

Now, I want to say that I am back and I am very excited to share more things here.

Happy holidays and I hope everyone has a blessed year ahead!
