To the Community

As a community, I believe we deserve the kind of members we get and the members eventually get the kind of community they deserve. This is a focus on how quality members that build tend to bring out better outcomes for everyone in it while those that remain apathetic towards the community, if they are the majority, will eventually drag down the efforts that those who build.

Now when I sold members a vision of what HivePH could become, I had a firm vision on what the potential of the blockchain paired with human effort of bayanihan could achieve.

Part of the problem I've always noticed is the lack of sense of stewardship and overwhelming apathy to community endeavors. Once you're a member, you got some say on the direction and how stake can be used for the better of the common good. I think there's this misconception that because the admins control the keys, it's our playground account on a whim.

This stake was made possible by those that came before us. Members who dedicated their time and effort to put their resources on this community instead of their own and this lead to what it is now. I'm sure it would hit different if you saw this account having 100k hp to upvote you with. I saw this account barely reaching 2k staked, and some others before me at hundred hp.

Before you got involved, the stake that grow to what it is now was built on top of those efforts and if it not for some sense of community stewardship, this community wouldn't be existing right now. One could just powerdown quietly and move on. Have you seen other Filipino community groups existing now? yeah, they all powered down quietly once keeping this show actually entailed more work and responsibility that means less gain for the individual.

But here we are, with some members making it possible and sustainable. We've come a long way and if you think the 0.15$ full upvote this account has now doesn't mean shit, consider probably investing around 7.5k USD (1 USD close to the price of 1 Hive token at the time of this writing). I know a lot of people just pay too much attention to the price and digits rather than the story behind those numbers.

If this community was run by leaders that had little interest for growing it, it wouldn't reach the stake where it is now. It would be gone and fade to irrelevance just like that.

Now maybe it's hard to see where I'm coming from but if you come to a point where you get fed up hearing people say "sana meron rin tayong ganyan na kalaking upvote" "buti pa ibang community may ganito" and etc, chances are, the people that bitch about it do far less to earn their keep within the group.

So here's the story from the previous quarter, the changes that are subtly happening now had been planned and are being implemented on the first quarter.

Bakit di ramdam? syempre wala, may buhay rin mga admins na pinaggagawa. There's a limit to how much support this community can give and as the number of members grow, so does the resources become spread thin, be it upvotes and staked.

It takes value to print more value. Give the community nothing to build on and you get nothing done.

I'm on the fence when it comes to gatekeeping the community as being too exclusive for Filipinos, but if growth of the community means maybe adding more users from the global scale, why not? if these new users ended up being valuable members, it benefits everyone else and it's probably x times better than those inactive members we got going.

For Members:

I previously emphasized the member / hayahay role was easy to obtain and this makes the membership less valuable for the low threshold required to be a member. So I implemented a new channel where other members can vote on whether they would approve the membership one a user.

Previously, there were no incentives in place for the label, but since changes are slowly being implemented to add more incentives to those that have the role, the last thing I want is having members have a sense of entitlement for existing with the label with little to no value given back.

For those that are already members, there's still a chance to get the guest role just by being inactive. One way to know you'll be a candidate is when I or other members that are active won't miss you or notice the changes.

If you take for granted your membership, expect it's going to be harder to get it back. You're still welcomed as a guest but expect to be put under the vote just like any newcomer who applies for the membership.

Now if you think losing a lot of members is really a sad thing to happen for this community, think again. Less than 8 people show up on the server for months prior to this bull market and years even before that. The same people still show up and growth never stopped to what it is now.

It's quality members that rule it and not quantity, real talk, sa 256 members on the server less than 10% are actually providing more than 80% of the value this community has been distributing so I think one should have a better dialogue ready when they go reeeee over something petty as long a member role. Those that have it already are lucky, those that haven't yet won't really have to go a mile to get the label, but those that lost it are going to climb a steep hill.

For Delegators:

Added rewards on top of your delegations will be distributed beyond April 4, 2022. The qualifications include:

  1. Delegating at least 100 HP.
  2. Delegated for a week minimum.
  3. Delegating to this account or @hivephilippines
  4. Not a community account.

You'll receive the additional rewards in proportion to the amount delegated of course.

The qualifications and rewards can still be subject to change in the future. This is part of the many changes gradually implemented to add more incentives to those willing to support the community.

On top of the average 7.5% rewards that goes to the community fund, I believe this change makes up for the losses and even generates more than a hundred percent of your delegations worth.

8 people is more than enough to build a community.
8 people is enough to reach a specific goal... once goals are reach everything else will fall into place.

as per my personal experience.

As I said, stop caring too much... it gives unnecessary stress.

Your building a community not a charity institution... for crying out loud!

As I said, stop caring too much... it gives unnecessary stress.

Doubt I care too much, I can still flip the switch and abandon it all on a whim, just gives me more purpose to be on the blockchain than plain old shitposting.

Noted.
