Hello Hive and hello everyone! Before starting this blog, I would like to extend my greetings and thanks for reading my blog, I really appreciate it. I hope that who ever is reading this blog is doing great in life and facing hardships with confidence and perseverance. This is iamscinttwister again with a new blog entitled A DAY IN A LIFE: ENGINEERING STUDENT.
SHARING COLLEGE LIFE AS EN ENGINEERING STUDENT, BLOG 1
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” -Maya Angelou. A very motivating statement that helped me overcome the stress and exhaustion of living my college life. Late night burnouts, days being sick and failed exams, are some of the things that challenge us students, it sometimes cloud our thoughts to the point of doubting ourselves and our capabilities. The quote of Maya Angelou does not serve as my motivation solely here in my college journey, rather it serves both as a warning, and reminder that the hardships that I'm going through right now is an essential component in building a future that envisioned myself living. It serves as a warning that every decision that I make will become a part of myself, thus making bad habits latch on to me and drag me down to an inevitable defeat. It really helped me in my decision making, made me more observant on situations and come up with
a solution that yields desirable and beneficial outcomes. Reminding myself that if I have to do something, I'll do it right and I'll do it with passion.
RESUMPTION OF CLASSES: ADDING A SUBJECT
Today is the resumption of classes after the end of our semestral break period. I went to our second main campus where the engineering and architecture students goes to attend regular class, because I had to add a subject to take this second semester. For the context of adding subject, I'm an irregular student. I failed one subject one subject during my second year in college, the pandemic was still a thing back then and we had to attend online classes. I have no one else to blame but myself. Saying that at times we were struggling with life and I had a different upbringing than others, would sound like a good excuse but it wont benefit me at all. But I have moved on from that as time passed, I'm over it now.
This was taken this morning while on the way to our university's main campus two which the Department of Engineering and Architecture is located. I has with my classmate and we had to stop for a bit, so I took the opportunity to take a picture. Upon arriving to the campus, we went to meet our Department head to request adding of our subject that we skipped last week when we were enrolling for the second semester. Fortunately it didn't take long to add a subject, but I had to wait for my loadslip to get printed fo a while. I think it was printed alphabetically and my last name starts with Z. Anyways it wasn't really a hassle to wait.
After receiving my loadslip me and my classmate decided to go to main campus one and get our student ID validated in Student Affairs and Services Office. The picture above was taken after I gave my student ID to the facilitators, as they are the one take the ID inside the office to avoid crowding inside. Normally in order to get your ID validated, you must bring your Loadslip with you as proof the you are currently enrolled for the semester, but this time is different. Maybe because there were a lot of student in line to get their ID validated, the loadslip was no longer needed and the facilitators just asked for everyone's ID and she took it inside the office to be signed and validated. The owner's name would be called later that time to receive their validated ID.
LUNCH TIME
By the time I received my ID, it was around 12pm and I was already starving. I took the chance to check the canteen for a snack, but it didn't expect the varieties of dishes sold and the thought of coming to the canteen for a snack disappeared in mind, because now I want to eat lunch until I'm stuffed.
The photo was taken when I was still about to enter the canteen and can already see so many food already. You really can't blame me for being excited from seeing so many dishes in one place, there were so many dishes to choose from. As and engineering student, our campus was separate and I never really had the chance to buy lunch here at main campus one. All I buy here are banana-q's and toron. After careful consideration on what to buy for lunch, I decided to have chapsui. Chapsui is really one of the dishes that I really like, I makes the vegetables sweet. So I ordered 2 servings of chapsui and 3 servings of rice for take out, and I went back to my boarding house to eat lunch. I was basically done for today regarding school requirements.
See how the chapsui is glistening with flavor? I am the only one that notice that when eating chapsui, all other vegetables taste so sweet? Well I really enjoyed my lunch and got so full that it made me drowsy I took a nap afterwards.
WAKING UP FROM NAP: MY PARCEL ARRIVED
I was woken up by a call from the delivery rider saying that my parcel has arrived. So what did I order? I ordered creatine monohydrate from a tiktok shop, at first I was hesitant to buy things from online because I was afraid to mess up anything since I didn't know the transaction works at the first place. But after my first purchase I realized that I feared for nothing, maybe it's because that the delivery rider tha delivered my first order was very friendly and understanding even though I missed several of his calls because I was in class at that time.
Another savings well spent...
After receiving my parcel, I paid for it and went inside. I quickly unwrapped the packaging to see the condition of my parcel. I did record while unwrapping the package because of there was a sticker placed on it saying "NO VIDEO- NO RETURN- NO REFUND". Fortunately there was no issues regarding my parcel so I quickly boiled water so I could drink my coffee and add creatine on it.
For those who doesn't know what does I use creatine for, I regularly go to the gym and I take creatine as a supplement to aid muscle growth , water retention in muscles and recovery.
EVENING WORKOUT
I have been working out for more than a year now and stayed consistent with my training. As an engineering student it's hard to balance priorities, that's why when people ask me what's my course is, they seem to get shocked that I still have the time to workout consistently despite my course. To be honest, when I was still starting to workout I struggle to stay consistent because of my class schedule, requirements to be submitted, and especially during exam weeks where I got little to no sleep. It really took me some time to create a daily schedule where I can still workout without affecting my studies. During exam week, I consider it as a deload week where I workout for 30 minutes or don't workout at all because I needed to conserve my energy to study. Doing this, from an initial weight of 46kg, I gained muscle weight and reached 60 kg, but now my weight plays in the 59-60 kg.
As you can see, the rate in the gym that I go to is very affordable, specially for a student like me who saves money from allowance to pay for the monthly gym subscription. Very sulit. This gym is also my very first gym, the people here was really nice to me and didn't made fun of my even though I was all skin and bones. I always try to recruit more people try the gym that I go to, so that the gym can have more budget for maintenance or new equipment. It's a win-win. After my evening workout, packed my thing and went to the market to food on the way back to my boarding house.
So that is all for my a day in a life as an engineering student first blog. If you made it this far on my blog I hope it meant that you liked and enjoyed my writing and I would love to see you all again in my next blog. Your time in reading this blog is deeply appreciated, thank you and keep safe hivers!
Best part of college life is the lunch time 🤣 that's what we need to get through the next class. I always love lunch hour, it's always getting me through a difficult class the next hours.
Hahaha I can't focus if I'm hungry
Good luck on your journey, future engineer!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
In my sched, we'll be lucky if we can have lunch on time haha. College isn't easy, sleepless nights and never ending stress, but you really need to make time for yourself above all that, just to maintain your sanity at least. I'm currently a college student, too and I can relate with it.
Hello, thanks for the reblog! I'm pretty sure that most students, if not all, have faced struggles in college, but in the end of the day it really is important to look after yourself and treat yourself from time to time.
Study well, future engineer! I hope I have the discipline of working out regularly like you do.
Imagining myself as a student (even now), I think chopsuey would be the least choice I'd make after looking at those meals in your canteen. I guess I just prefer meat and I feel it's bang for the buck. :P
Sure will do bro. I'm sure you got it in you to start and stay consistent in working out. I do prefer eating meat bro, It's just that I eat chicken everyday for lunch and dinner all the time for protein. And seeing chapsui really boosted my appetite.
Good luck
