HELPING THE SMALL FAMIILY BUSINESS

Short introduction of the topic:

As we all know most of the provinces in our country have different modes of public transportation, may it be busses, tricycles, habal-habal and potpot (bike with side-car). We used to have around 5 of these bike with side-car before upgrading to what we call here as "E-bike".

An E-bike as the name suggest is a bicycle what is powered by electricity. Aside from the electric bike itself, everything was was built here in our house. From the constructing of the sidecar frame, to painting the frame and to attaching wrap covers was was done by me and my father. We currently own around 8 of these E-bikes and have people rent them daily. The image above is one of our own E-bikes.

WHAT I DID THIS WEEKEND

For the past two days all I've been doing the whole time was repairing parts of our E-bikes, during weekends, especially during Sundays are the best time for me to repair damages on our E-bikes because it rented everyday and in some instances few of our drivers (the one that rents our E-bikes) don't drive during Sundays, either for rest day or to run different errands.

This picture was taken after I arrived after buying the materials needed in repairing damaged parts os the E-bikes. Simple materials was used during the repairs, some clear plastic covers and leatherette wraps.

Saturday's repairs:

IMG20240203143405.jpg

This picture was taken last Saturday, 3rd of February. This was my first customer, it's wrap was already torn and needed to be replaced. You can also see noticeable discoloration, this wrap was already lasted for more than a year and obviously needed to be replaced. The first I did was detached the back rest so i could start wrapping.

In the images above you can see the tool i used were scissors, and a gun tacker to hold the wrap in place. You can also notice the plywood was also corroded a bit by time and natural elemetns. PRoceeding with the wrap, what I did was to take an appropriate measurements of the red leatherette wrap to fit the back rest and did my magic!

TADAAAA! I GOT MAGIC HANDS!

After finishing the two backrest I attached it back to its place and I waited for the other drivers to arrive so I could also replace their damaged wrappings. And when it was already dark I decided to call it a day after finishing the parts that was already detached from the E-bike so it can still be rented the following day.

Sunday's repair:

Today's fix was a bit different, I sort of woken up a bit late. And when I got out I saw my father was already done with detaching the clear cover and in the blue front cover of the passenger's seat of the E-bike that need to be replaced. He was finishing up with the wrap of the blue front covers so I insisted that I will take it from there and continue the work. What I needed to do today was to paint a plate number on the front cover, attach a clear cover for the passenger seat and re-wrap the back rest of the passenger seat..

This image was taken after painting the plate number and attaching the clear cover for the passenger's seat. As you can see it looks very neat when the wraps are new. I had a bit of difficulty with wrapping the clear cover because it's area was relatively wide and it took a while to stretch it to make it look clear and shark like glass. So before ending this blog I would like to share the process on how I painted the plate number, although I'm not a professional at this but I believe my skill on it is improving graudally.

IMG20240204104314.jpg

First I layout the location where the numbers will be placed and began outlining.

I put masking tape around the margins to have a relatively straight finish and easier painting because o don't have to worry about paint being smudged accidentaly.

As you can see there are still unwanted smudges but it will be covered as i continue with my work.

it's interesting how these days e-bike is a thing and over there, the tricycle becomes electric too! Would love to see such changes where I live too. Anyway, I made it to the end and it was a good read!

Yes the electric vehicles are really hoping in the trends of public transportation, and it actually a good thing because it has no carbon emission which is bad for the environment. Thank you for reading my blog till the end, I appreciate it!

I have different opinion when it comes to carbon emission but to me, it's the noise pollution that would reduce significantly esp over here.

ohh I see. Now that you mentioned it you're right, E-bike really have little to no noise when running.
