Hey Hivers! This is your gentle reminder to move that gorgeous body of yours for a fit and healthy lifestyle. If you're like me who lives a sedentary lifestyle with work always coming your way, I totally get you. I was once someone who dreads the sight of working out because I'd rather sleep or rest at home than sweating. Until recently, I got a gym membership hoping that I'd change my mind but it still didn't. I don't like to lift weights nor fight for my time in the threadmill with a bunch of health buffs at the gym.
However, what I love is to explore new things and go on adventures. So at a sight of an opportunity to go on outdoors, I grab them.
Hiking
Thanks to our hiking club organizers, we get to enjoy hiking in the mountains. So far, I've conquered 3 mountains all in all. My first amateur hike, I realized that my legs were too weak and shaky. So it has been one of my goals to strengthen my legs. I tried going to the gym and do some squats, however, as I've said, I didn't enjoy the gym. With this, another adventure presented itself: joining marathons.
Marathon
This was my first ever 12km run held at the longest bridge in the Philippines, the CCLEX Bridge. I never imagined myself running that long since I dreaded running. I remember during the race, I thought to myself that I need to finish this run because no one else is gonna finish it for me. It's me vs me; me against the world. So I jogged, sprinted, and walked tirelessly as if my life depended on it. In the end, I finished the race.
Regardless of the duration of my run, what matters is that I didn't have up and still pushed through. Joining a marathon isn't so bad, after all.
Badminton
On Mondays I play badminton with friends. This was supposed to be a time for me to meet new people and just improve my social life but as time goes by, my aim is to be better in playing badminton. I've seen some of my peers play badminton and they're very impressive. The speed of their legs, the spikes, and the power of every hit of the shuttle cock truly inspired me. As much as I can, I try to join them every Monday so I could improve my skills in badminton. Im also pretty competitive in each game. Haha
