La Fortuna Bakery is known for their famous Filipino-Chinese delicacies like hopia, masi, tikoy, breads, cakes and pastries. They are considered one of the oldest bakery serving Cebuanos since 1953, located at the heart of downtown Cebu. They also started venturing into hospitality business by opening Hotel Fortuna, located just beside their bakery.
I especially love their unique hopia which has pork fillings. These delicacies are perfect souvenirs for travelers too. I remember one time, my dad bought a box of hopia as a gift to our relatives in the province since he was planning to visit them. However, due to unforeseen event, the trip was canceled. So we ate the box of hopia at home. I personally ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a few days and im not complaining.
This bakery holds so many memories since we often visit this place after going to Sto Nino church every Sinulog since they were originally located inside the church. So many of their costumers are church goers too. We often buy their ube bread, chicharon, and banana chips for snacks after the mass and breakfast on the next day.
They also sell Chinese items like Angpao (red envelope), Joss paper, and red boxes which only a few remaining stores are selling. Looking at their products, i can say that there are better and more delicious delicacies in the market but what makes them famous, in my opinion, is their authenticity and uniqueness in crafting each of their delicacies. Maybe luck played a role in their business too.
These photos are actually taken during my visit last January and thought of sharing it with you all. Have you tried their delicacies? Let me known in the comment section below.
That's it for today's bog. See you in my next one!
