Hello, Friends! This is one long overdue post. I made a draft 15 days ago, and I think I accidentally cleared the content. :D.
Anyway, May was a hectic and exciting month at the same time. It was the closing month for the school year 2023-2024. To get away from the pressures of work, we went to Boracay Island, courtesy of our school and the Faculty and Personnel Association.
May 27, Monday
Boracay Island is about 4 to 5 hours away from our city. That includes 3 to 4 hours bus ride and another half an hour boat ride, plus the waiting time at the port terminal.
We left around 7:30 in the morning. Around ten, we arrived at Kalibo at stopped over to buy our lunch at McDonalds. It took at least 30 minutes for the staff to prepare the food for over 30 people.
I expected that would arrive at the port around 12:30. However, we went to a different port which was much closer. We arrived on that port around 11:30.

We arrived at Boracay before one in the afternoon. It's more than a decade since the last time I set foot on this island paradise. It is the first time since former President Duterte ordered an island-wide clean up. The clean up... or rather clearing operation, included clearing of the fixed structures put by the resorts near the beach front.
We took four huge passengers tricycles. Each can carry about 8 passengers. I asked the driver if these trikes are e-trikes. He said those warked with the letter "e" are. He also confirmed that they are locally assembled. I was amazed that there were able to assemble such e-vehicles that are more powerful than the commercially available ones.
We stayed at the Bamboo Resort. After checking in, we took some time to look around at the bazaar and take a walk on the beach. I was looking for something to buy as pasalubong. I was surprised that the prices were very affordable.
There were some activities on the water that caught my attention.
I also noticed the wind farm on the mountains of the Aklan.
This is also where I took that photo where I got the mysterious reflection of Monkey D, Luffy appeared.

Around four in the afternoon, I saw some our companions swimming. I joined them. I asked one of our companions to take some shots from the beach. We were maybe twenty meters away from the shore.
I waited for the Sunset but it was cloudy.
Dinner at the Food Hub
One of our companions negatiated with someone who represents a stall at the food hub. I think he took the package that's good for 12 people, and there were 14 of us. But the food that was I think good for twenty people. Initially, we were thinking of having a round of beer after dinner. But after all the food we ate, there was no room for beer anymore. We were also entertained by a fire-dance show.
But later that night, my room mate bought two bottles of Absolute Vodka. That's what we consumed in one of our companion's room.
Later on, four of us decided to take a little walk at the beach. If you call a kilometer long walk little. We just observed the night life in Boracay. There were a lot of foreigners roaming around. Some of them are looking for some companies for the night. We walked by two groups of girls who are ... well you know what... I noticed that some of them are not really girls...
As we walk back to our hotel, some of our companions are in a restaurant drinking beer.I think I already had enough drink.I went back to my room and after washing, I slept.
On my next post, I will share with you our 2nd day activities in Boracay.
