I believe that every person has a story worth telling, and I’m here to share mine with you.
ABOUT ME
You can call me Jhona. I’m a 22-year-old graduating student pursuing a Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in Social Studies, at Cebu Technological University Danao Campus. I currently reside in Compostela, in the northern part of Cebu, where you can find lots of beautiful places and wonderful people.
We are seven in the family, and I am the second eldest. I have three brothers and a sister. My father works as an air conditioning and refrigeration technician in our town and sometimes in the city, while my mother is a housewife. We also have a backyard piggery business, which helps us in so many ways. This business even allowed us to repair our home after it was damaged by Typhoon Odette.
Although we lived a simple life, I wouldn’t trade my life for anything else because I have such great parents. I’ve seen it firsthand on how they work incredibly hard to provide us with the life we dream of. Raising five children with no permanent job is really crazy, and I’ve witnessed all the hard work they made just to provide all our needs. They’ve sacrificed so much for us, and their support has been a huge motivator for me to work hard, pursue my dreams, and find ways to give back to them in the future.
Reading this, you might think I'm a sweet girl at home, but I'm not. We are not really the kind of family that is affectionate to each other. I grew up with strict parents, but I don’t regret that because that shaped me into who I am today.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a recent family picture; however, I'm hoping that we could get one during my graduation pictorial.
My Passion and Interest
I am the kind of person who really loves to read novels. I find comfort in it because it helps me escape from reality. Also, reading helps me broaden my understanding, and it also helps me understand people better.
Another thing I love doing is traveling to different places. It’s my way of relieving stress through sightseeing in nature and spending time with my family and friends. Although I’ve only been to a few places here in Cebu, such as Sumilon Island, Kawasan in Badian, and the Bamboo Forest in Medellin, I also dream of visiting other countries like Japan, Singapore, Denmark, and Italy when I become financially stable. I like to visit these countries because I want to know more about their cultures and their way of life, and I can’t wait for the day I get to explore them firsthand. My hope is that each trip will teach me something new about life and about myself.
Other than that, I am also into cooking and baking pasties. Some people would probably find it tiring and boring, but for me, it's my way to spend time with myself. I really love doing things alone, especially when I do things that I'm interested in.
What can you expect with my future blogs?
I am planning to write all of my travel experience here in Cebu, which might give some idea on where to visit if you guys want to travel here in Cebu. I might also share with you some of my food trip experience. I hope you guys will support me here in the hive, and I am looking forward to getting to know your stories too.
Who introduced me to hives?
I discovered Hive through my classmate and also a dear friend of mine, @brandonwrites. He told me that he is using this platform as a way to express himself and that all I need to do is write about my own experiences or my day-to-day happenings, and that this is also one way to improve our skills in writing. He then asked me if I was interested so he could introduce me to his friend, who happens to be our workmate during our summer job.
Long story short, I met Miss @jeannmazing; she introduced me to Hive personally and how Hive helped her in so many ways. She told me more about Hive through conducting an orientation via Google Meet together with my fellow attendees. Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time so that we will be able to know the rules and regulations and how this platform works. The orientation really helps us a lot, especially since we are newbies.
Using this platform responsibly and maintaining a healthy environment with the fellow hivers was the most valuable lesson that I learned from the orientation. I believe that expressing yourself openly is important, but doing so with respect for others creates a safe space for everyone.
What can I contribute to the hive?
I joined Hive because I find it a great platform where I can freely express myself, boost my self-confidence, share my experiences without judgment, socialize with new people, and gain knowledge from you guys. I have several social media accounts, but I’ve never felt comfortable sharing my life story on them—until I discovered Hive. It’s truly a great privilege for me.
Through this platform, I hope to share my interests, experiences, and insights with you all. Whether it’s a review of a novel that left an impact on me, stories from my travels, or a recipe I recently tried, I am looking forward to creating a space where you guys can find inspiration and perhaps see a bit of yourselves in my journey. I can assure you that I will stay longer on this platform. I will also provide quality contents, respect each member, abide by rules and regulations, and be a responsible user of this platform.
