*This has been my main growth strategy for this year. Since I have been able to upload more blog posts, I see it as a good addition to accumulate Hive. My growth had slowed down in the short term, mainly because I have adjusted to more passive income streams here on the blockchain versus active income streams, such as blogging, curating and trading.
Intro
It's Hive Power Up Day and participating in this event is a great way to grow one's account. I'm sure that by now, we all know that powering up your liquid Hive or staking transforms it to Hive Power (HP). This HP is locked in for safety, but similar to a time deposit, it can be unlocked or powered down with a (13) week time period. And since HP is directly tied to the value of your upvote/ downvote, the higher your HP, the higher you earn from curating content here on the blockchain.
How much did I power up?
100 Liquid Hive
What HP does
HP is also used in Hive's governance, where each one of us can choose the top witnesses via the number of votes/staked Hive. Witnesses are the ones who make sure that Hive runs smoothly and securely, hence an integral part of the Hive ecosystem.
Another function of Hive Power is in choosing which projects (beneficial to the Hive ecosystem) get funded via the Decentralized Hive Fund (DHF), which basically means that the higher your HP, the more influence you will have here on the Hive ecosystem. If you are new to Hive, you may have noticed some projects asking for support; it takes a lot of HP to get funding from the DHF so better stack up on your HP if you have plans of submitting a proposal. 😃
HP can also be delegated to other accounts. In this set-up, HP holders can lend the HP to another's account to help them out if they are new and don't have enough HP yet to go through the daily grind and activities on the blockchain.
Goals
I've set a goal of reaching 10,000 HP for this year, but I won't be reaching that goal. Since I've bought some Hive Engine tokens and invested some of my liquid Hive into Liquidity Pools. I'm now adjusting for a more moderate goal of reaching 3,000 HP. I have 2,223.907 HP now, which means that I only have 776.093 to go to be able to reach my new intermediary goal of 3K HP. Of course, I'm still looking further down the road when setting goals. The 10,000 HP is still on the table, but not this year.
In terms of content creation, I've managed to upload 15 blog posts for the month of July, more than the goal I have of 2 per week. It's not much, but I'm happy to get rewarded for uploading content. According to data from the blockchain, I earned 47.43 HP/10.28 HBD in the last 30 days. A modest amount and something that will add on to my portfolio here on Hive. It's a numbers game in terms of growing one's account, and every drop of reward that comes along is a welcome addition.
Conclusion
So that's my HPUD blog post for today. Thanks for dropping by and spending time here. Have a wonderful day ahead.
Love and peace.
