Hello Again Madlang Hivers! It’s me Juvs again. How are you? I hope you are all doing well. In this blog, I will share with y’all the good aspects of my experiences there what I learned and how it has impacted me as an aspiring teacher.

Becoming a student teacher at CEPOC Central Elementary School was a rollercoaster of learning and growth. Each new day had something new to offer from lesson planning to solving classroom problems.

On October 16, 2024, we were deployed to CEPOC Central Elementary School.

Every morning all the students from Kinder to Grade 6 gather for the flag ceremony where the entire school sings the national anthem and participate with their exercise routine. It was a touching moment seeing the unity and pride in the students as they participated.

After the flag ceremony, we the student teachers went to the principal's office. We met Mrs. Melchora E. Alferez, the principal of the school. She was also the one who assigned us to specific classrooms and grade levels. I can truly say that Ma'am Melchora is very kind and she shared so much advice with us. Her words were not only inspiring but practical and we learned so much from her.

I was assigned to Grade 5 Rizal, the first section which is known for its smart students. I was excited but also nervous knowing how challenging it would be to handle such a smart group. I also met my mentor, Ms. Maricar V. Panilag. I felt a huge sense of relief as soon as I met her she was warm welcoming and so approachable. Her calm demeanor immediately put me at ease and she patiently answered all my questions.

The classroom management maintaining student interest and responding to students' individual needs were more relevant than mere provision of instruction. While I’m observing, I noticed how expertly she brought together the issues of making the students listen to her and making them feel confident enough to speak up and ask questions.

Despite being in the first section which is typically seen as the best-performing class. I could still see the playful side of the students. Some of them were incredibly curious often raising their hands not just for academic questions but to share jokes or ask about their teacher's personal life. I couldn't help but smile at how they attempted to make me laugh and display a facet of their personality aside from simply being students.

My mentor will ask me to assist in checking on the activities of the students. It is a great learning experience for me as I get to see what they do in assessing the children's progress and how they navigate classroom dynamics.

This is the drawing of one of my students, and it beautifully showcases the parts of a flower.

Next, I also checked their formal themes. I was so happy because their handwriting was beautiful especially their cursive writing. It was impressive to see how neat and well-formed their letters were and it made me realize the importance of handwriting practice in developing their skills.

In the afternoon, there was a validation test for the third-grade students. I helped assist with setting up the laptops.

IMG_6344.jpeg
It was a great opportunity for me to help on how to handle technology in the classroom and make sure everything was ready for the students.

IMG_6287.jpeg
It was pleasing to assist them by providing them with the necessary tools for their test.

The other day, I was so glad when my mentor requested my assistance to train the volleyball girls after class for their incoming sport festival.

Volleyball is my best sport and it's been a very great experience imparting the knowledge I have gained over the years.

The kids were fascinated to see the magic of science being demonstrated right in front of their eyes, thereby making learning fun and interactive.

We, the student teachers who are behind the scenes, are really thrilled because the magic related to science is truly impressive you’ll definitely be amazed.

Thank you “Magic of Science”. Learning has never been fun without you.

I left the school this day, wearing two hats-exhaustion and excitement. The whole experience has taught me that teaching, indeed, is tough but that the little moments of connection and learning make it worthwhile.

As a student teacher, each day feels like a new chapter. With each lesson, each struggle, and each victory. I've been reminded over and over that this journey is not just about changing the minds of others but I'm also changing from one into a educator that I'm working to become.

Thanks for reading, Hivers. Here's to holding on in the chaotic ride, cherishing the struggle, and of course, never losing that sense of wonder. Until the next time!
