Hello Hivers! It's been a while ( ◜‿◝ )♡ How are you today everyone? I hope you are all good. For today I want to share another memorable experience of mine in school. Our school formed a DLBC band for a district meet competition, and I decided to audition for the lyre category.
I would say that auditioning on it was a great idea. When I auditioned, I was really nervous because honestly I didn’t know how to play the lyre that well. But good thing is, I had practiced a lot and during the audition, I really gave my best. When they announced the final list of instrumentalists, I was overjoyed to see my name included!
Once the final members were chosen, we started practicing hard really really hard. Some of our practices even ended at 10 p.m. Every session felt like hell, especially when we practiced under the scorching sun and kept going until late at night. But we knew we had to push ourselves to bring home a win for our school.
We performed 5 or 6 songs for the competition, and I remember having a hard time memorizing the chords. But thankfully, my members were always there to help me out. There were even times that when things got confusing, deciding what to do next, where to insert parts, or figuring out the next step. But we worked together to solve every problem and helped each other whenever things got tough. Those moments really showed how much we had each other's backs.
So the day before the competition, we went to another school for blocking practice. Seeing our competitors made us even more determined! Though we stayed positive and motivated. Even the air itself seemed to have that “fight” vibe, like it was ready to challenge us too! It felt like the weather was in on the competition, trying to add to the pressure. And finally, the big day came. We spent a lot of time preparing just like fixing our hair and makeup, putting on costumes, and tuning our instruments. Everyone was nervous when we arrived at the venue, but before we performed, we prayed hard, asking God to guide us and give us strength.
In the long run, all of our hard work paid off! We won 2nd place! We were so happy and proud of what we had accomplished. Everything, the exhaustion, stress, and scoldings from our coaches (even when we were being makulit) was all worth it. I’ll always miss those moments and the bond we shared as a team. As a student this kind of experience is so memorable! I am so blessed to be able to experience this as it left me a lot of great memories.
That's it for today! Just a quick memorable experience story! Hehe do you guys have a memorable experience in school? Especially those extra curriculars in school! It's the best ones.
