After the Storm

in Hive PH3 years ago

Heavy rains
Whistling winds
Roaring waves
Frightened souls.

Natures' revenge
Unstoppable
Inevitable
Unimaginable.

What's in the future
Mankind abusing Nature
New generation suffer
But we can do better.

Grow a tree,
Very easy
One everyday
Soon a Forestry.

Walk a mile
Not having to ride
You will live healthy
You make nature happy😊

Recycle trash
Gather and wash
Plant veggies in plastic bottles
Make unique like any other.

Only ways but few
Anyone can do
Hand in hand we go
Make nature glow anew!🥰

It's been a while since my last post here in Hive. Ten days to be exact when we've been hit by Typhoon Odette last December 17 2021, though not severely, our communication is also affected. No electricity for 5 days, no internet connection, no communication at all. It was typhoon signal #3 here in Western Visayas specifically here in Iloilo City. As my family live along the shoreline, we are advised to leave home. It was afternoon of December 16 when we decided to evacuate though there's no single sign of a typhoon coming. No rain, wave's calm, and everything is good. The expected time of the landfall is 5am the next day, but we don't want to compromise and risk ourselves so as early as possible we left our home.

We stayed in one of our relative's home, a little distant from the seashore and the house built with stronger structure. We brought along cooked foods and important belongings since my family is composed of two senior citizens, which is my inlaws, and my son who is 19 year old. We had dinner early and went to bed since the night is fine. It was 10:oclock in the evening when I woke up, the lights went off and the rain drizzle softly with slight wind outside. Not a threat I told myself and I went back to bed. Came midnight and I am awaken by whistling winds and heavy rains. My first instinct was to wake up my son, Having phobia with the experience with typhoon Yolanda, I felt nervousness eating me up. Shaking and frightened, I saw my son and inlaws already up as well as the family we are staying with. Since we slept on the sala, we heard all the noise of what's happening outside. Falling branches of the trees on the roof, whistling winds, even the roaring waves can already be heard. It addded up to my worries and I know my son was aware of my physical and mental state that time. He made warm milk for me and coffee for the oldies and we all watched the swaying of the trees dancing with the rhythm of the strong winds. Glad we charged our single emergency light, it helped us through the night and the nights after the storm surge. Strong winds lasted from midnight til 6 am the next morning. Imagine the long hours we stayed awake praying, asking God to make us safe. Only in times like this that we pray from the heart. Some will agree with me haha. During life-threatening times we could remember all the saints we know, call all the superheroes too haha. It's the irony of mankind. Back to Odette, I was sorry not to document the after effect that afternoon when the wind and rain stopped. Our phones batteries went off, no electricity for a week. And our home, thank God! It stood still and proud 😊 though its inhabitable for 2 days because of the knee-deep water caused by the high tides. Thankful that we are not severely affected unlike some places in other cities who suffered hard even losing some lives. All we could do is pray for them, that they may recover and stand up strong with God's power. Nature is already at risk because of mankind's wrongdoings too, and look how it strikes back. Let's contribute something to help conserve lt. Stay safe everyone and have a wonderful 2022!

The poetry was beautiful. Kudos, I felt that especially we all experienced the Typhoon. Though we are not affected, our hearts are broken each time that we see post, news and updates from everyone.

We are glad that you are safe, Hive is always there.

Thank you♥️ @tpkidkai . We cannot avoid nature's wrath when it strikes back, but we can do something to help restore it in our own little ways. Yes, we Filipinos are survivor! Godbless..
