Teaching is considered a meritorious profession. No one could be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, policeman, or other field of work without the guidance of a teacher. That is why of all the professions, teaching is the noblest of all. Do you agree with that? So, being one of them, I'm so proud to say, "I am a Teacher"!Those who are teachers here, are you proud too? So, to recognize our glorious deed, we have Teachers' Month Celebration and World Teachers' Day every year.

The Municipality of Tuburan

The Municipality of Tuburan was chosen by the Division of Cebu Province Office to be the host of the 2023 National Teachers' Month and World Teachers' Day Celebration last September 27-28,2023. The Division of Cebu Province is composed of many sub-offices and the Tabogon District belongs to the Medellin Sub-Office.

One of the activities during the celebration was the game which is Laro ng Lahi just to keep our traditional games. Some of the games were, Kadang Kadang, Maria Went to Town, and Patintero.

For the Laro ng Lahi which is Kadang Kadang, Tabogon District School Heads were chosen as representative players on behalf of the Medellin sub-office. In that game, we have five players only but we need to participate just to support our players. So,100 % of the School Heads were present at that time.

Heading to the municipality of Tuburan, which is more or less 50 km away from Tabogon and 1 hour more travelling, was an enjoyable trip.

We passed purple mountains, lush green trees, beaches, and many more. I wasn't able to capture some other views for I'm sitting at the back much better if I'm on front. Thanks to God we were able to reach the venue safely.

Upon, entering the venue we could not resist the temptation to pose on their decorative gateway with some balloons hanging on it. Wow, it was amazing! The smile painted on our faces, wearing our green polo shirts as our outfit for that day, showed our delightfulness for being there. After, a few minutes the opening program started.

The program started with the Philippine National Anthem by the Diwa Performing Arts. It was followed by a Prayer, Sugbo Hym, and Tuburan Hym.

Our Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Lorenzo M. Dizon, delivered the words of welcome. All the guests and participants were warmly welcomed.

Dr. Channey A. Gulfan, the Public Schools District Supervisor of Tuburan 1, acknowledged all the participants by their respective sub-offices.

The sweet voices of Mrs. Chrissa M. Arellano and Daehv Albert R. Villanueva awakened the souls of the participants. They entertained us with their lovely song.

The energetic MAPEH Coordinators of Tuburan I & II showed their skills in dancing. They danced gracefully in front of us. The thundering clap from the audience filled the entire gym, a good sign that the audience who were watching them were satisfied with their all-out performances.

The moment we were waiting for, was the message and the declaration of the competitions by Dr. Senen Priscilo P. Paulin, our Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of Cebu Province. According to him, We must be proud to be a teacher. He stressed the points of why we should be proud of being a teacher. After giving some motivational words, he declared the opening of the competition.

The good-looking and pretty candidates for Mr. & Ms. DepEd showed their skills in dancing. They gave their best at that moment. Then, they boast their confidence as they introduce themselves. School Heads from different districts showed their wholehearted support for their candidates. After the introduction of candidates, the host announced to proceed to the designated venue for the different events for that day.

Our hearts were so overjoyed when our Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Victor Ybanez approved our request to take a picture with him together with our school district Supervisor, Dr. Rowena L. Brian

Heading to Tuburan Central School

We proceeded to Tuburan Central School since the event for Laro ng Lahi was held there. The distance from the municipal gym to Tuburan Central School is estimated at 200 meters or more.

Upon our arrival, at Tuburan Central School, my attention turned to their amazing parks. They have Math Park, Araling Panlipunan Park, MAPEH Park, and others. They are so attractive for their colorful painting.

The host instructed the participants for Kadang Kadang to prepare.

How to Play Kadang Kadang Game

1.Each team has 5 contestants to play a racing relay
2.The player used coconut husk to carry herself to race with another team
3.Each contestant gets her turn then she taps to her co-member until all members of the team can finish the race
4.The first team to finish the race will be declared as winner

The Breathtaking Moment

The host used his whistle to give a signal. The first member of each team started a race but it was for a trial first. After a few seconds, the game started. The host gave his go signal. The first contestant of each team started her turn. It was followed by the other members.

The Contestants on Kadang Kadang Game

The eagerness of the contestant to win was shown by her actions no matter how difficult, she didn't mind it, what mattered most she won the game.

The area was covered with a roaring voice. Some were shouted to show their support to the team.

After a few minutes, the game was over!Yeheey!We won the game!
Tabogon District Team was declared the winner of the Kadang Kadang game. The area was filled with too much happiness. What a Joyful Day, ever!

Reflection

Being a teacher, we tried our best just to make our pupils/students happy. We give our hearts to them and make a sacrifice to build their better future. We work together just to fulfill our mission and vision to achieve our school goal which is to provide quality basic education to our students.

We teachers deserve also to be happy. Like our students, we wanted also to win the game. How? By working as a team, all for one, one for all. Success is the result of hard work, perseverance, unity, positivity and collaboration. That's the reason we won the game.
So, grateful to higher offices for giving us a chance to celebrate Teachers' Day!
