Hey, Hivers! @makiyumee here and I am back again with another blog! For today's blog, I am going to be sharing to you my journey in getting my medical requirements ready for my internship next year.
It was a rainy Tuesday morning, and my mother and I were standing in front of the Cebu Provincial Hospital. We were both holding our umbrellas outside the pharmacy as the rain poured steadily, making the pavement wet and slippery. We were waiting patiently because the laboratory hadn't opened yet, and there were a few other people also waiting nearby, huddling under their umbrellas to stay dry. The cool breeze and the sound of raindrops hitting the ground filled the quiet moment as we stood there, hoping the laboratory would open soon. I remembered how I shivered so much that day because I took a bath despite the cold weather, and I even forgot to bring a jacket.
Around 7 am, we returned to the laboratory, and I was the first one called in for the examination. I felt a bit nervous, but I knew I had to go through it, so I took a deep breath and went ahead. The staff started by checking my lungs through an x-ray, which made me feel a little anxious as I stood still in front of the machine. After that, they took a sample of my blood, which was slightly uncomfortable but over quickly. Finally, they asked for a urine sample, which I provided right away. These tests were all necessary for our medical requirements, so I tried to stay calm and cooperate as much as I could, even though I felt a bit uneasy during the process.
I sat quietly inside the clinic, waiting for my results, and I couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. I silently hoped that everything would turn out fine because this was such an important moment for me. This was going to be my first and last internship as a student, and I wanted everything to go smoothly. I kept thinking about how much this meant to me and how I didn’t want any mistakes to happen. While waiting, I tried to calm myself by taking deep breaths and thinking positively, but the thought of how important this step was made it hard to stay completely relaxed. All I wanted was to pass the medical tests and get started on my journey without any problems.
When I finally received my lab results, I made sure to thank the staff at the laboratory for their help and kindness. After that, my mother and I hired a tricycle to take us to Medellin. The ride was a little long, but I felt relieved knowing that I was one step closer to completing my requirements. We were on our way to submit my medical results to our school nurse, who was responsible for checking everything before handing it over to the campus doctor. The school nurse needed to review my results first, as the final checkup with the campus doctor would only happen next year. As we rode along, I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement, knowing how important this process was for my upcoming internship.
When I arrived at the campus of CNU – Medellin, I walked straight to the clinic to submit my medical results. As I approached, I saw that there were still several students waiting in line, so I patiently stood outside and joined them. The atmosphere was quiet, with everyone looking a bit nervous or thoughtful as they waited for their turn. While standing there, I couldn’t help but silently hope again that everything would be fine. I reminded myself that I had done everything I could and just needed to stay positive. Finally, it was my turn to go inside. I handed my results to the school nurse, who carefully read through them. My heart raced a little as I watched her review the papers, but I tried to stay calm. After a few moments, she looked up and said that everything was okay. I let out a deep sigh of relief, feeling so thankful that my results were good.
With a light heart and a big smile, I left the clinic. On my way home, I felt proud and satisfied that I had completed the first hurdle of my internship journey. It was a small but important step, and it gave me confidence to move forward. Knowing that one part of the process was now done made me feel glad and more prepared for what was coming next.
That would be all for this today's blog everyone! Thank you so much for reading and I'll see you all on the next one.
