Archdiocesan Shrine of San Vicente Ferrer: My Comfort Place

Hello, dear Hivers, how are you? I hope you're all doing well. Welcome to another blog series featuring the San Vicente Church in Bogo City, Cebu. Come and join me, and together let's dive deep into the place that holds so much significance in my life.

Bogo City holds a very significant role in my life as a student; it's the place where I matured and strived during my college days. That's why today I will share here with you about the city's famous shrine. Who will agree with me that during the darkest days of our lives there's one place we always visit, churches? The comfort churches gave is a 100 percent guarantee that lightens up our mood. It never fails to make us feel like we belong, and someone is always there for us to listen to all the rants we carried with us in our lives.

If you are planning to visit the Archdiocesan Shrine of San Vicente Ferrer to talk with God, have some time to meditate and reflect, or just capture it's unique architecture and features, here's a quick guide for you:

🚕How do I get there?

San Vicente Ferrer Church is located in San Vicente, Poblacion, Bogo City, just a walking distance from the Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges, where I used to spend my college years. If you are from Cebu City, you can ride a yellow bus from the Cebu north bus terminal going to Bogo City. Ask the passengers' attendant to drop you at Central 1 or Rusi. From there, ride a tricycle going to the church for only 15 pesos.

The facade of the shrine features a corinthian column; its style is more modern since it was constructed after the war with its cornerstone blessed in 1976. Looking up, you can visibly see its bell tower that flanks the entrance of the church. You can either choose to attend the mass inside the church or just offer a personal prayer on the left side of the church. You can buy candles worth 5 pesos each and direct your prayers to the Holy Cross and Jesus.

Moreover, the Archdiocesan Shrine of San Vicente Ferrer is the space that I really considered my comfort place. Furthermore, the shrine is a living witness to all my struggles that I leave up to God. It is a sanctuary for my everyday's reflection, prayer, and healing. Indeed, churches are our healing space for our spiritual illnesses. In conclusion, churches represent our sense of deep connection with the divine being and community that serves as a symbol of faith, love, hope, and healing. How about you? What or where is your comfort place? Share your thoughts in the comment section; I would love to hear from you.
