Mom's Glaucoma Surgery Was A Success

in Hive PH7 days ago

Mom's glaucoma surgery was a success. Thanks to those who prayed for her when I asked you last week. It's been answered.

The operation

January 30, 2025 2:30 pm when my Mom reached the hospital for her glaucoma surgery schedule.

When I asked her how she felt, she said she was relaxed. Do you think it's true? She's been into a cesarean before, but this case is a little bit different.

Entering the hospital, my Mom asked to change her clothes into the hospital gown and a shoe cover.

That's to protect them from airborne organisms and prevent the spread of the infection.

While waiting, my brother made sure to strengthen Mom, making her smile even though he was also worrying at that time.

That red lipstick of her shows that she's a fighter. 😅

A few more minutes and the doctors arrived.

Mom was the first patient who was called. So that means she needs to enter the operating room.

The surgeon said it would only take 15 minutes. The time started, and we're patiently waiting while sincerely praying for it to be successful.

Her eyes have been opened to allow the fluid to drain. The surgeon tried to numb her eyes 3 times with a drop of anesthesia, but based on Mom, she could still feel the pain. So while creating a small opening in the white part of her eye, she's not that comfortable. But nothing she can do but endure the pain. The surgeon then removes some tissue from the drainage angle of Mom's eye. Then cover it again by stitching the opening. Just like what you can see in the picture.

Time passed, and the surgeon was done, putting a bandage on Mom's eye.

She's been so brave to succeed in the surgery. I was then relieved but still praying that she could see after the healing.

After the surgery

The day after, my Mom needed a follow-up check-up. That's when the bandage was removed. I was happy as she could already see, but naaaaah, it's still blurry.

She always needs to wear an eye shield to protect her eyes from dust and avoid touching them. She was not allowed to remove it even at night while sleeping. She also has two prescribed eye drops that need to be put in every hour to avoid inflammation and infection.

She also needs a complete rest. No heavy lifting or vigorous activity. Just eat and sleep, maybe. 🤭

She's also not allowed to use gadgets and watch TV until one week after recovering. And 28 days of not showering? Or no. Just afraid to put soap or water directly on her eyes.

We visited her

Two days after the surgery, we visited her. And remember me asking for help financially on her surgery? That plan didn't work well. But still, I gained $1.449 on that post. So what I did was buy fruits using that money.

Consider this as a "pasalubong" to Mom from Hive. She's happy of course. I bought grapes and kiat-kiat (small orange). This costs $2.06. (Abonado pa ko 🙄🤭)

I saw her lying down when we got there. Well, what can she do but rest? Two things I needed to accomplish on our visit were washing her hair and her underwear. She requested me to do that.

She's with two men in the house, my dad and my brother. So considering that I'm the only woman in our family who can assist her with these things, of course, her wish is granted.

She can't see anything even though the bandage was removed. So, to assist her in the bathroom, she's holding my back while walking.

I washed her hair like a pro salon. 😂

Sorry for the mess in her room, I'm just done washing her hair.

Do you think she's happy? 😅

Of course, I asked for her underwear, which was hidden in the laundry. She asked me not to smell it, as if I would do it. 🤮

We eat lunch after that, and you know what? She's eating on her own. That amazes me. She can't see the food, but she can do it. 😅 All we need to do is put the food on her plate, make sure everything is there, and she can now manage.

Well, 50 years doing it, that's a sure thing she's pro at feeding herself. 😅

After that, it's time for her prescribed eye drops.

My brother set an alarm just not to forget to put the eye drops. It's a good thing he's there with Mom. A great help indeed.

Anyway, I love my Mom so much that I can do anything for her. I was just relieved that she was done with the operation now and into the healing process.

I hope it will go well and return to her normal life. 🙏

Thanks God it's a success ❤️❤️✨. Its like with Mommy D nong nagpa implant sya sa eyes din. She didn't stay at home then and stayed with her sister which take care od her. Daming bawal gawin after the operation eh.

Mommy mo mismo? Ano case ng mata nya?

Keep the faith! Your mother can adjust and adapt the new changes in her. With your help, as a supportive family members, surely she will be living her life in a normal way.

I think so too. She said she's ready for whatever happens. But still, it will make her sad if she can't see anymore.

thank you lord for the success surgery. to your mom sir I pray your mom fast recovery, I hope mother gets well soon.

Thanks for the prayer. 🙏
