Ink-Stained Musings: The Story of an Ink Drinker

in Hive PH4 days ago
Hey there, welcome to the ink drinker’s corner! I’m a lectiophile, a lover of reading. I’m a new member here on hive. Do we share the same interest? If so, kindly recommend a great book and let’s talk about it. If not, let’s become friends and get to know each other more!

About Me

Let me start with a cliche introduction. I’m Rosemarie Joy G. Tito but I’m usually called by my nickname, Miles. I’m 21 years old and a pre-service teacher taking a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Social Studies. I live in Compostela, Cebu but my family hails from Leyte with Waray descent. My life so far is but an ordinary person’s joy and woes. It’s reminiscent of a peaceful prologue and in between the chapters, delightful and sorrowful moments become intertwined. It’s challenging but that’s what makes us humans, born with free will. It’s up to us to either bury ourselves in dark slumber or walk to conquer.

What can I say about myself? First, I am introverted - I am someone with limited verses though I can listen to lengthy rambles no matter how nonsensical it is. Just as long as you are included in the list of people whom I consider significant. I’m also a homebody. Obviously, I enjoy the life of idleness in the comfort of my own home. Do you know about anime? I’m a fan and I love it so much but not to the extent that I will be labeled as an otaku. By the way, my current favorite anime is Fairy Tail 100-year quest.

About Friendship

While I’m an introvert, I enjoy other people’s company. Like the fairies gang, I value friendship a lot. Aside from school, church and home, my life largely revolves around the company of my friends. To be honest, I didn’t like my school and my course. I was forced to study and I just casually chose my course, it looked unpopular at first glance and so I went through it. I never thought I’d meet numerous incredible people. They accepted my blunt speech, which can really hurt people who are meant to listen to my words. They can accept my flaws and advise me to do better. In addition, I also like crowds but only if I’m with my close friends. I love joining in with the excitement; dancing, parties, playing around or listening to live bands.

My Values

Moreover, I’m inquisitive so I’m keen on trying out new things. In fact, I'm a firm believer of the values of curiosity, knowledge and wisdom. What I have earned today was inspired by curiosity. The desire to discover and try new things allowed me to explore a life beyond familiarity. During my younger years, I’ve tried public speaking, writing, performing, running, and most importantly - being lost within the books. My life as a teen was of warnings, “Don’t do this, don’t do that.” I was helpless and ignorant. Then I was introduced to the world of ink and I discovered a myriad of lives. I was inexperienced but within the books, I lived and learned. The words I committed to memory became my knowledge and the values I gained became my wisdom.

Ink Drinker

In French, buveur d’encre is an expression that means bookworm - or more literally, drinker of ink which perfectly describes my love of reading. There are no boring days with books; only a feeling of hollowness after reading a masterpiece. Don’t expect too much though since I read classics once in a blue moon. I’m fond of historical fiction and the mystery/thriller genre. Speaking of, I have a penchant for reading history. It’s fascinating to learn the lives of our ancestors and how the world was so different back then compared to the present. Their patriotism, talents and bravery is something I wish to possess. It’s also amazing how certain events shaped the world of today. Looking back to the past allows me to appreciate what our ancestors prayed for in the dead of the night, “ Our freedom”.

Personal Doubts and Plans

I admit that I am very much lacking. I’m still a work in progress and I have so much to learn in the coming of years. I’m in my 4th year of university and I have so many plans for myself and my family. However, I’m still devoid of passion since I’m feeling the blues of being a completely independent adult. Nevertheless, I’ll still do my best in reaching my personal goals. As a pre-service teacher, I’m striving to graduate and become a professional. I heard that the board examination is quite daunting especially, the major subjects. In addition, after becoming a professional, I would like to learn other languages; Mandarin and Nihongo to be specific. I’m planning on learning Mandarin since it’s one of the most spoken languages in the world. Also, I’m worried about the war so I’d at least like to understand what the soldiers will be saying in the worst case scenario. For Nihongo, it’s just a case of personal interest. I think it’s more fun to watch anime without the subtitles. Besides these, I would like to gain weight so I hope this blog will help me find someone who can join me in doing physical activities. For these reasons, this blog will truly record my personal growth in stepping out wholly in my comfort zone. I’m hoping that you guys will engage with me in accomplishing my future endeavors.

Additional Interests

Furthermore, reading makes me feel alive but music soothes me. I have a high affinity with singing yet I’m not really that talented. Music is simply my form of self-expression. Whether I feel sad, happy, angry and to name a few, I just need to speak it out through beautiful melodies. In fact, music fuels my creativity. I have difficulty articulating my thoughts but inspiration bursts through when I listen to music. It’s simply part of my daily routine. Do you sing while you are in the shower? Similarly, I do this a lot too! I also listen to music on my way to school. For me, the best way to listen to music is while you’re reading a book. It’s really a great way to imagine the romantic scenes between the protagonists with a love song in the background!

How I Joined Hive

I was introduced to Hive by one of my close friends @brandonwrites. We were working during the summer vacation and I was thinking of exploring different ways to channel my creativity and thoughts. He shared about Hive and I was ecstatic since I love writing. He then told our co-worker, @jeanmazing, about my interest in joining the platform. A few days later, I joined the orientation about Hive. She offered practical suggestions and expertise about how to write, what we should and shouldn’t do, how to boost engagement and among others. Without their help, I wouldn’t be here today.

So what made me ultimately decide to join Hive? Well, as I’ve said before, I love trying out new things. Hive is a great platform for my creative outlet - it will allow me to document my daily moments and personal insights. Blogging will improve my understanding of myself through introspection. Along with this, I would love to meet a community who shares the same interests with me and connect deeply with them. Lastly, I would like to read unique stories from different people here on Hive.

Thank you so much for spending your time getting to know me, see ya on my next blogs!

Welcome to hive miss!

Hey, thanks for the welcome💓

Hello Teacher Miles! It's been a while since we last spoke, and I wanted to say welcome to Hive! The last time I saw you, if I remember correctly, was outside Teacher Frances's cubicle in the speaking room lobby. You were always there, standing and talking with Teacher Marianne and other teachers. I was a little hesitant to approach you because I'm super shy, haha! But anyway, I wanted to share that I also love Fairy Tail! I've been watching it since I was in sixth grade, and my favorite character is Juvia Lockser. My favorite arc is the Tartaros arc where they capture Mirajane and Erza, and where Lucy breaks her golden key, Aquarius, which is really sad. I also like the Grand Magic Games arc, where they fought the 12 Zodiac Keys, and the Alvarez Empire arc, especially because we see how they rebuild the Fairy Tail guild and how they're going to get back your Master from the Alvarez clan, and we get to see how the Fairy Tail guild members improve. Of course, I'm also really excited about the 100 Year Quest! I'm actually already ahead of the anime because I'm reading the manga, but I totally forgot where I stopped because of schoolwork. I'm so happy that you also like Fairy Tail! I'm looking forward to reading your future blogs about it.

Thank you, Mel! I wanted to talk with you too and with other teachers but I was too lazy going to other cubicles so I conversed with teachers near my cubicles instead, hehe. And really?😍 I'm so happy that I found someone who likes fairy tail too. It's actually my comfort anime and we share the same favorite arcs. I'm not reading the manga but I'm following the latest episodes of the FT 100-year quest. Juvia is such a cutie hehe but my favorite is Lucy. In fact, I like all FT members because I love their bonds. Looking forward for your blogs too💓
