Celebrating Small Wins: A Successful Final Observation in Practice Teaching

in Hive PHyesterday
From the very beginning of my practice teaching, I have been always anxious about how my every class performance will turn out. I have been always worried about the ‘what ifs’. What if I fail? What if I’m not good for the challenge? What if I am not enough to perform well in all of my classes? These anxiousness was put to an end after my final observation happened this previous Monday.

This previous Monday, our final observation in practice teaching happened and mind you, this is a surprise visit. We were not given an announcement or a heads up, this is not scheduled, that’s why we were very shock and anxious when we saw our professor inside our cooperating school early in the morning.

The previous night that day, I was already expecting that within this week our professor may observe us but I wasn’t expecting it to be on Monday. Honestly, I wasn’t very prepared especially my instructional materials but by God’s grace, I was able to execute my lesson plan well. My professor commended me for my strong points in handling the class and he also gave me suggestions how I can improve my weak points. Overall, I was very satisfied on my ratings.

A lot of effort and sleepless night I invested because I’m afraid to fail in my last semester in college. I am just so blessed that everything in my teaching internship journey now is sailing softly. I still may have doubts but I’m certain that everything will be fine.

To recognize our hard work and small achievement, me and my co-practice teachers decided to celebrate during dinner. We ate at Fry-spot unlimited chicken wings. It’s one of the famous food place here in our hometown. I’ll create another blog about our specific experience and what Fry spot unlimited wings food place could offer.

My teaching internship journey is really an opportunity of growth and exploration for me. No only it taught me how the real world setting of being a teacher works, what’s the real effort a teacher should give for the well-being of her students and how many sleepless nights we need to commit just to prepare our lessons but it also taught me how to be compassionate, patient and understanding to my learners.

The bond I made with my learners and co-practice teachers will forever be a treasure to me. This journey may be brought stress, anxiety and doubts but it also gave me a genuine connection, friendship and wisdom from people I have encountered during this journey.
