This blog will be all about my day yesterday as a STEM student, and I'm currently working on something with my group members. Everyone must be familiar with research. Yes, we are currently working on our research, and yesterday, we had a great time doing our job as STEM students. We definitely heard an inspiring story, got to explore a new place, and chatted a little bit over some sweets.
Howdy! Howdy, HIVErs! How was everyone's April? Was it ecstatic and memorable? Well, let's start the month of May by filling this blog with the joyous experience I got to enjoy yesterday. Sit back and enjoy!
As students, we are bound to do research on a certain subject or topic. It may sound difficult, yet it’s not unbearable since it’s not individual research. Our class has been gifted with a great teacher. What I mean by great is that she checks every paper and reads it thoroughly. She tells us when to make revisions and elaborately explains how. This makes our research easier to process and make. Having cooperative and active group members is also the most convenient way to finish and ensure a smooth flow of the research process. My groupmates are all brilliant and active; they are so diligent when I assign different tasks to them, and they also submit by the given deadline date. They’re just the best!
Yesterday, May 2, we conducted an interview with a single participant. Since our study is a narrative type of qualitative research, we only needed one participant. Thus, we commenced our interview to not further waste time. We went into a cafe near Mabolo, Cebu.
📍Corner Bakery: This place is green. Everything was green. The exterior, the ambience, the aroma, and the delicate pastries and coffee felt so pleasant and calming. We entered the bakery and found our participant on a table. We exchanged greetings before formally starting our interview. We asked permission to record our interview, and luckily, he said yes. Our participant is a practicing physician who has a degree in nursing.
Are you guys wondering why we have a participant that's a practising physician? That's because our topic has a title: A Narrative Study: Illuminating the Trans-formative Journey of a Nursing Student into Practicing Physician. We were told to pick a topic related to our strand, hence, we came up with this topic and chose a single participant. If we only have one participant, we will use the triangulation method, wherein we need a witness for the participants's story. The witness can be his family or someone close to him that was able to witness his journey.
I'm the one who asks the questions and of course, have a conversation with the participant. He shared his background, explaining why he chose the path, and also told us about his hurdles and experiences through the transformative journey he went through. He gave us inspiration and optimistic perceptions that could help us as students. I am so glad, up until now, that he was able to share his story with us and learn about his aspirations in life as a practicing physician.
After half an hour, our conversation ended on a good note, and we decided to take a photo together as a documentary. The participant decided to leave us first, and we thanked him for the time he provided. Then, our group took a little rest by walking around the cafe and ordering some food. We took some pictures everywhere and talked about different things. For me, I ordered a vanilla cupcake that costs 90 pesos (5.30 USD). It was so sweet—just perfect for my sweet tooth. Of course, I was satisfied with my purchase! Nothing beats the feeling of sweetness.
4:00 pm, and we decided to finally make our exit and go home. We were satisfied with our day. Although we still have a long way to go with our research, we were filled with motivation brought by our participants. It fueled our energy to finish our research.
I'm feeling so happy that I'm able to share my life happenings in this community, I'm sincerely enjoying writing in here. Although, I can't write constantly, I'm trying to take a documentary with my life, when time comes, I'll be able to read everything and just smile.💗

Wow! I love the design and concept of the bakeshop Ma'am @rainebow0407 It tells the personality of the owner of the shop. I guess he is calm, organize, and passionate of what he is doing in life.
