Saturday Celebration: The Fiesta of Cambanay, Danao City, Honoring the Feast of the Immaculate Conception
Last Saturday, one of my friends messaged me to go to our other friend's house for a fiesta, but I replied that I would be shy since we weren’t really close to the person whose house we were going to. However, they insisted, so I had no choice but to agree and just respect the invitation. I quickly got dressed and traveled to Cambanay. They were waiting for me at the chapel in Tudela because I didn’t know exactly where the house was. When I arrived, they immediately handed me a plate of food to eat, so I just ate quickly since I was the only one in our group who hadn’t eaten yet. After that, we just chatted and took pictures. However, I didn’t stay long because it was difficult to find a ride home.
Sunday Celebration: Marking My Friend's Milestone 18th Birthday
Yesterday, December 15, early in the morning, the friend whose birthday it was messaged me saying, "Come over here at around 5 pm." I replied, "Maybe next time, I don't have enough money go get there." She said she would just send us home afterward because their place is far from the city and quite isolated. So, I tried asking my sibling for fare, and thankfully, I was given just enough. Then I went there, and by the time I got there, the celebration was about to begin.
Before it started, we took pictures with the cake and the decorations. Anyway, the theme was pink because it's her favorite color.
After that, the 18 Roses and 18 Candles ceremony began. I was part of the 18 Candles, and my message was very impromptu because we didn’t know there would be this kind of tradition. We thought it was just a simple gathering. Here's a picture of us after I gave my message to her.
After that, everyone who was part of the 18 Candles took a picture.
At this point, we sang the birthday song to her while she was holding her cake, ready to blow out the candles. She looked so beautiful—her beauty was truly effortless.
Then, we took a picture with just the three of us friends before we ate, as well as a picture with our extended group of friends. It was such a happy day because we were able to celebrate Kristen’s birthday, even though not all of our friends were able to attend.
This weekend was truly special—filled with meaningful moments that I’ll cherish forever. From the lively and colorful Fiesta of Cambanay, Danao City, honoring the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, to the heartwarming celebration of my dear friend Kristen’s 18th birthday, it was a weekend of joy, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Despite the challenges of distance and unexpected surprises, it was a reminder of how important it is to make time for friends and traditions that bring us closer together. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of both celebrations, and I can’t wait to share more of these experiences with you all.
