In this blog I would like to share with you my Renewal process experiences and the importance of having a Driver's License.
Drivers License is very important because it identifies us that we are capable and allowed to operate vehicle. It can be use and serves as our Personal Identification Card. It can be use as basis if you lost something valuable like your wallet or purse just by looking at the name and the address indicated in the card. And lastly, it allows emergency officials to identify you if you are involved in an accident.
It is not just an ordinary card but it helps a lot in our daily lives.
We can't predict when and where accidents will occur. Even when your just walking or even sleeping we really don't know something will happen. Same in driving, we really don't know when and where accidents will happen even if how much we are being careful on driving. As a driver, it is very important that you have a license anytime with you, especially when you are travelling in rural areas like here in Metro Manila. Most of the time there are sudden checkpoints while you are in the road. And with that, it is much of importance that your license is valid so that you can avoid extra charges or unnecessary circumstances while on travel.
Driver's License can be renewed two months before the date of expiration. There are only two options that you will get when renewing licenses its either you will get the 10 years or 5 years validity. The 10-year driver’s license will be issued only to the motorists with no demerit points on their driving record or who have not committed any violation of the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. Driver’s license holders with at least one traffic violation will only get the standard 5-year driver’s license.
MY RENEWAL EXPERIENCES
My license will expire soon so I planned to renew my license this month so that when November comes I don't have a lot of things to do especially it's my birth month. So I asked my workmates whose done renewing there licenses and do some research on the internet on what are the processes and the things that I need to bring during renewal.
The first thing that you will do is create an account at LTO Portal website and take an Online Validation Examination (OVE) at the Portal. The exam had only 25 questions and you need to score at least 50% on the examination so that you will pass. Here's the good thing in here, if you don't pass the exam you can redo it many times until you will pass it. If you pass the exam they will give you a certification to prove that you already passed the test. That OVE Exam Certificate will be the only document that you will bring at any LTO Offices and especially your old driver's license.

I took the Online Validation Examination last October 17, 2022 and thanked God I passed after my first take of the exam but I ended up not going to LTO office because of the piled up schedule that I have during that time. I have a lot of schedules and calls from the customers that's why I set aside that thing first.
After that day, we left our office early after getting all the schedules that we have that day. I told my two trainees that we will work early so that we can finish our work fast so I can finish my Renewal business. Luckily we managed to finished our work early.
I traveled at exactly 2:00 PM from Tipas, Taguig City and arrived at Robinson's Cainta Junction at past 3:00 PM. I directly went to the LTO Office and they get my old driver's license and the OVE Certificate for the verification but I forgot to print the certificate. Luckily there's a computer shop near that office but I paid 50 pesos for that one piece printed examination certificate. After they get all what they want, they told me that I may now proceed to the next process which is Medical Examination.

At the Clinic they first check my blood pressure, weight and height and paid for the Medical Examination fees. After waiting for almost an hour finally I'm already the one that being examined by the doctor. The only thing that the doctor did to me was the eyesight testing only. This determines if you have a poor eyesight or not. Luckily I get it all correct even my eyesight are literally blurry. I think I already need eyeglasses. Moments later, I already get my medical documents and proceed next to the last process.
I directly went to the counter and paid again for the processing and the making of my new driver's license but before that they took photos and my signature and scanned all my fingerprints on the scanner for the fingerprint scanning and verification. Few minutes after finally they released my new Driver's License.

I did it all for two hours only and spent more than 1200 pesos for all the transactions I did during that renewal process.
After that we traveled back to our office because it's already past 5 PM but before that we stopped by at a market and bought chicken feet for our dinner.
And that's how I get my new drivers license. Moreover, I am very happy that I was able to acquire the 10 year validation of my license because I don't have any violations recorded at the LTO.

Though, I would advise you to avoid posting sensitive personal info (address, date of birth, complete name, etc.) for your safety- you know, identity theft and so much more. (tip- you could blur sensitive info next time) Be extra careful my friend.
