One of the highlights of the opening of classes for almost 6 years already is the Wellness Campus Program Implementation which is in partnership with Nestle Philippines Incorporated and Department of Education Region VII and strongly emphasizes developing healthy habits of learners through nutrition education, physical activity, personal hygiene, and solid waste management. As a sign of saying yes to the program, different activities in our school will be implemented and will be participated among the different year levels.
In the second week of October, we had our cook fest show, slogan, and poster making for our wellness contest which is participated by students coming from Grade 7 to Grade 12.
Cooking Contest
For the cooking contest, each section will choose two students who will represent the section. To test their ability to cook the vegetable soup, participants are required to bring the following ingredients: 500g squash, 500g taro, 300g eggplant, 300g lady's fingers, 250g spinach, and 50g horse radish. For the materials used in cooking, each section is required to bring the necessary materials as well.
Each participant was tasked to prepare the necessary ingredients and materials beforehand. They were given an hour to cook the vegetable soup and present it to the judges.
Preparation of the materials beforehand.
From the ingredients to the utensils to be used, each section is busy preparing the tools and on how to present them well to the judges.
This is during the presentation of the vegetable soup. Each participant was given the chance to creatively present their vegetable soup.
Judging Time.
Judges were busy tasting all the vegetable soup from the 7th grade to the 12th grade. Each section has their style of presenting its output.
After the presentation, all the vegetable soup will be shared by everybody in the class. This is one way of ensuring a healthier body among students.
Slogan and Poster Making Contest.
On the other hand, each section also participated in slogan and poster-making contests. Students were very eager to finish all the tasks on time. For the slogan contest, they were given an hour to finish their task. From writing the message clearly to coloring it. And for the poster they were given 2 hours to finish everything. From drawing to coloring.
After two hours of waiting, these are the outputs of the students. Some were not able to finish it on time. But there will always be winners who will prevail. They finish on time and they present beautiful outputs.
Realizations
Every time that the said competition started, all the students were very much eager to participate. As teachers, we are thrilled that students will be becoming healthier and wiser individuals.
As what the famous line of Mother Teresa taught us, "None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful." Together we can make a difference. We can never do the task all alone, we can make a better place and a healthier world by doing it all together. I am glad that our department is making a move to help our youth and our future leaders.
That's all for today my Hive friends. Don't forget to make your day fruitful and healthy. Have a nice day everyone😊
