Do you remember the movie The Matrix? It's about a regular guy who had a lot of questions about the world he lived in, online he was known as Neo, until one day, what he seeking, sought him and found out that he was living in a simulated world run by robots and use humanity as a power source. Now this is a fictional movie but since the first movie was released there were different conspiracy theories that circulated around it. One of which is that the machine symbolizes the higher entities or organization that operates by manipulating and leading the society on the design structure that they created.
Evidence of Reality
Even before the rise of technology, even before World War I and II, I believe constant manipulation of thought processes is being pursued by individuals, like example during the time of colonization of the Philippines, the people of the land had their own beliefs, culture, and way of life, until the Spanish conquerors decided to impose their own belief and ideology. Some decided to agree to their terms and the other half of the story is the resistance of it all. After a while, the conquerors won and claimed the land for themselves and enslave the people before them, and as for the resistance, they were branded guerillas or a threat to the society.
Do you remember the time when some Muslim extremists were terrorizing everywhere? Well, at least that's on the daily news when television was still a thing. It was so bad for the Muslim brothers and sisters, especially in my Mindanao (One of the islands of the Philippines), where most of the people that reside on the island are Muslims, because of the narrative, everyone looked down on them, scared of them. branded them without even thinking for themselves that there are bad people and not as a whole.
Mind games
Two decades after, COVID happened, the narrative was Pandemic, Lockdown, We can die from it, Vaccine, Stay at home, If you own nothing you will be happy, and so on..
I got to be honest during those times I was going out drinking at a friend's house and none of us got COVID or died from it. Do I have doubt about it? Yes, I did. Did I go to places and surround myself with random people I do not know? Nope, never. Did people die from sickness? A lot as the poll says. Do I think it was all propaganda? Yes.
As technology arises, seems like all of us are very much attached to our gadgets and that's what we call progress, but is it really? Everything should be defined as something, one must set boundaries and limit what they say, do, and think or else they get canceled. Isn't that controlled freedom? Nowadays everything offends everybody. Have we gone that soft?
Do you think for yourself? or do you follow what others think? Do you have time to think for yourself or do you let others think for you? Or it doesn't matter and you will just let it be as you were told?
Drama and Fear as a Weapon
When I was younger I used to live with my Grandparents and my grandmother just stay home and watches the news all day, and back in high school I was always out with friends and go home late and she would always tell me "You always stay late, I saw in the news there are a lot of hold-dapper and might rob you." I always hear that term from her "I saw it in the news..", now remember she's the one watching, I'm the one experiencing the outside world.
In today's world, it seems there are always negative factors that divide society in different ways, different eras same scenario, and problems exist and will continue to exist. Different ideologies, different desires, different rights, and wrongs.
Imagine
Since we are forgetful creatures and do not recall what happens 100 years back, even more, 500 or 1000 years back except the narrative that we're being told, and obviously everyone is a regular Joe, and we really do not know who are the 1% of the 1% of the society, what if, just what if, they let us consume what they want us to consume and we are just pawns in their chessboard, to us everything is falling apart, but to them it really doesn't matter. In our lifetime we can only reach a certain point of advancement, merit, or comfort but not really achieve the 1% of the 1% status. Wouldn't that be something of a simulated reality? I don't know, this is just some random brain farts.

Reprogramming our own Reality
Mainly, the reason I'm writing this is that I think our mind is collectively powerful and it's like a sponge that can absorb everything just as healthy food gives our body nutrition and junk food can lead us to sickness, and so as what we feed our mind. Recently, I decided to go offline from all of my social media platforms just to shut down all the voices and noises, and for seven days I was out of the digital world, I know all thought processes were all mine, and habits are being broken, and because of it, my mind was much clearer than before, it's not perfect, and I'm not after perfection, I just know what I have to do, practicing it as a habit seems the best way to go about it. We should from time to time get away from the digital world, experience the real world and see the beauty of creation, turn off our mobile phones, stop seeking attention, and passionately find what we want to live for.

never really understood the matrix even though I like keanu and i tried watching it but 🥲 half way thru id stop to watch, i dont feel it much and I just saw glimpse of them running away from those guys chasing them.. I know they're concerned, I'm concerned for myself as well, and very cautious. The point of it was just the part that not everything "they" say on that manipulative magical box called television, is real.

Good points you got here Mebu. Different perspectives- that’s why I go out and explore the world rather than watching it from a distance. It’s so different from experiencing and being involved to seeing and hearing it from others. Hate to say but my family who’s constraint in the Philippines will never understand my perspective, well they try to, but sometimes we clash. Respect na lang.
Totally agree that we need to have a digital detox from time to time. Yours being gone for a week was surprising because you just went off the grid without giving a heads up. Ano yern haha prang may pinagdadaanan. But whatever it is, I hope you have found a nice solution or close to it. But next time, pasabi naman oh. 😅 Kinda difficult to get away from tech and social media but to have a clearer mind, one must need to be prepared and courageous to let go.
Yes, experiences will always be the best knowledge and the feeling is the most alive, pure life essence. I feel the same, with my family, they're very much religious and I'm not, and they think I'm evil hahaha.
Sorry naman for not giving a heads-up, We all go through processes and mostly it's for change. As for me 'change' is always a good thing, like an app updating to a newer version. It's true it's so hard to detach from technology, that's just me proving to myself I can still be a Neo haha

Our mind is a very powerful spiritual organism, constantly growing and evolving based on what it consumes. We must be mindful of what we feed it. This is onenof the reasons why I opted to homeschool Aya. The method we chose for our homeschooling journey stimulates a kid's brain so that they will be eqipped against those mind games that the entire world plays. They are trained to think for themselves and they are encouraged to be very logical and critical in every situation they face.
I like the idea of disconnecting from the online world every now and then, I do that almost everytime my fam goes on vacation. Di mo naman kailangan talaga magpaalam per se but really, a heads up would be very much appreciated. Friends mo kami, kahit ganito kami. Nag aalala rin kami sayo kahit ganyan ka. Hahahaha. Peace!!!
I have a friend who has their kids at home school as well, and I see both parents grounded and humble, education is a good and a great thing, as is schooling and socializing. but there's just a bad side that lingers to everything, basically the other half of the whole. I'm not a parent but I know that we know better and we should let young ones side of things and the consequences of every action.
It has always been a practice for me to disappear from society and the digital world, and I just happen to have a habit of not telling anyone about it and just do. haha I'm sorry for disappearing from you guys, and I really appreciate that you guys care. I !luv yalls too!

I think we humans are too focused on each other, we have this morality game going on where everyone is better than the other. You are now "better" because you give up your device for a few days, others are "better" because they no longer eat meat, still others are because they help the "poor" or take care of the "really big and important things in life". This "I am better than you" thing, this "I have recognised reality and the others have not", that is an exceedingly strange behaviour and it indicates to me that we Christian-educated people are still very deeply rooted in the moralism that came out of it.
I am old enough today to see that I often behaved in the same way, for example I was proud to have thrown out my TV about twenty years ago (but had internet, LOL). My looks and gestures spoke contemptuous volumes when I walked into living rooms where the huge flat screens hung on the walls and everyone could be sure I would leave some subtle or overt comment. I gave up flying since 2011 because I supposedly wanted to protect the environment (I actually cared a lot at the time and it gave me a sense of moral satisfaction to reduce my carbon footprint), I bought second hand long before it became a trend and my wishes that people would behave similarly to me are now the called spirits. I was very convinced by the "green movement" and the brave "nuclear power-no-thank-you!" disciples who chained themselves to fences even back then.
Television has always done exactly what the internet does today, only it becomes much more visible through "social" media, as we can now comment on every picture.
Part of me laughs about the younger I, another shakes its head and another one regrets my stupidity. I fell for the matrix in the exact same way I see the young ones doing it today. I am confronted with "the youth" in the same way my parents and other adults were confronted with us children and I now understand why the adults didn't bother to try to convince us about what reality they themselves grew up in. You cannot explain this, you can only experience it. My mom often endured our accusations towards her, neither defending herself nor giving into our blames. She knew better.
Of course, another part of her still remained in the matrix without her recognizing it. That was the worst part to watch from my perspective. While I saw hers I didn't see my own being stuck in it.
All of my thoughts are not my "own". I even don't know if I ever produced a thought of my own since I saw so many movies, read so many books, watched so many moving pictures that I cannot be sure of any thought of "my own". HaHa! :D
That need not to bother me. But now, as all the spirits arrived I was calling for, I am not satisfied at all. I lost my little contrasting niche and that pissed me off - oh, the irony :D
i think i'm happy to see more & more people awakening at least partly to the illusion of this dream of life.
