A chunk of me—Shas

in Hive PH16 hours ago

Hey, everyone! I'm thrilled to be here on Hive as a newbie. For my first post, I thought, why not start with the most important topic—introducing myself? I'mma skip the fluff and just dive right in!

My name is Shasly but you can call me 'Shas'. I'm a 22-year-old student from Cebu Technological University. I am currently residing in Liloan, Cebu. I'm the eldest among four siblings, which I believe has helped to mold me into a responsible and adaptable person. I would use the word "flexible" to sum up my personality.

These days, personality types like MBTI are all the rage online, and I would like to tell you about myself through it! I'm proud to say I'm an INFP. As an INFP, I'm deeply introspective and internally focused, always committed to staying true to my values and connecting with others meaningfully. Getting to know me can feel like discovering a hidden gem at first. I'm naturally shy and take a little time to open up. But once I feel comfortable, my personality truly shines. One of the things I love about myself is my adaptability. I adjust how I approach people depending on their vibe or energy. I have this social sixth sense that helps me connect with different kinds of people.

Even though I'm introverted at heart, I have managed to build a circle of friends, including those I'm not super close to. I guess it's because I genuinely enjoy understanding people and finding common ground. My flexibility made me fit into various social settings without losing my sense of self. If you stick around long enough, you'll see there's so much more to me than the shy exterior. I'm a mix of quiet confidence, thoughtful energy, and the ability to thrive in any crowd. Maybe that's what makes me,me.

Friends

Talking about what kind of person I am won't be complete without my circle of friends since, you know, birds of a feather flock together. I am so fortunate to have met these incredible people in my life, especially during my college years. With them, I cannot stop myself from being happy, for their presence is enough. I am grateful to be surrounded by people where I can be myself, I am not a goofy type of person that almost everybody wants to hang out with but I am grateful that I can be my chill self when I am with them.

Arts

INFPs are naturally creative and love expressing themselves in unique ways.

When I was young, I was really into arts and crafts. I'd draw on walls, chip cartons, or any paper I could find! Since I was the eldest and my mom was busy with my siblings, drawing became my way to pass the time and express myself.

In elementary, paper dolls were super popular, but I didn't want to spend my five pesos on dolls with just one outfit. So, I made my own! I designed lots of dolls with different dresses, and it was so much fun. I also discovered that I am good when it comes to slogan-making. Some teachers noticed my talent for art, which led to opportunities to join slogan-making contests. While I often placed second or third, I was always grateful for the experience and recognition. In high school, I continued to join these contests and achieved even more. I was placed first during Filipino Month, and during Science Month, I secured third place. These moments boosted my confidence and reminded me how much I enjoy expressing my creativity through art.

I've tried so many art styles over the years, like calligraphy, stippling, sketching, and more. But recently, I discovered that my favorite is sketching eyes. Since drawing a full face feels overwhelming, I focus on just the eyes, and it's become my thing. I love how each sketch satisfies my perfectionist side. Here are some of my drawings!

Reading

I'm also into reading self-help books, those that inspire and motivate me to do better. I would not exactly call myself a bookworm, and I can be pretty picky about what I read, but when I come across a book that I feel will offer something valuable, I jump at the chance to read it. I just love how these books give me new perspectives, practical tips, and the push I need to work on my personal growth.

What am I as a student?

I'm just a typical college student, mediocre, who doesn't really join a lot of contests or organizations. But despite that, I genuinely care about my grades. Who doesn't want to maintain a great GPA, right? I may not be as smart as Elle Woods, Paris Geller, or Rory Gilmore, but I do look up to them; they're like my spirit animals! ( I watched too many movies). I aspire to have their drive and dedication. I try my best to discipline myself when it comes to studying. I may feel like I'm just mediocre right now, but I want to push beyond that. I want to improve, grow, and challenge myself to be better in everything I do.

Why did I start blogging?

I have always struggled with expressing myself verbally, so I think blogging would be the perfect outlet for me. Through writing, I can freely share my thoughts and feelings without hesitation. It allows me to say what's on my mind and share what I'm passionate about. Besides that, blogging allows me to improve my writing skills. I want to learn how to organize my thoughts better, choose the right words, and convey my ideas more effectively. The more I write, the more confident I become in expressing myself, and that's something I'm excited to develop further.

How did I discover Hive?

I am truly grateful and elated to have discovered Hive as a platform to express myself and share what I can offer! My friend @fevylous introduced me to it, and it has been a perfect fit for me. I just love how it lets people connect with others and showcase their thoughts and creativity in such a supportive space. Miss @jeanmazing also played a big role in helping me discover Hive. Her orientation was very helpful and gave me an understanding of how to get the most out of the platform.

Here are some snaps from the orientation.
