Hello everyone! It's been a while since the last time I posted here. I guess I have been really quite busy. Anyways I want to show you how my life has been going recently. I'm a 4th year college student taking the course of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English. I can't believe I will almost finish this degree. If you've been an avid reader of mine, you know how much I have complained about this course and its uncertainty. But look, I am still determined to finish it and now I'm in my 4th year!
We have our Field Study Observation for this semester and guess what I am so super excited about this. We have different designated public high schools to observe and I was assigned to the other municipality. It's a little distant from where I reside because I have to commute for about 30 minutes. Though I don't dislike the travel, in fact, I enjoy it. Seeing different people early in the morning going to their different routes. It's part of my observation that the morning is the best time of the day. Everyone is looking forward to their jobs, studies, errands, etc. While on the way going home, everybody is already tired. Some have a tough day while some have a usual boring day.
A glimpse of the public high school I am observing. I am surprised by how respectful the students are. They always greet you when they see you. After learning about the demographics of students here now I didn't wonder why they are mostly nice. They are purely locals and also the municipality is far from the city area.
It is really important that schools here are surrounded by trees to provide shade. Especially for students who like to play and hang outside. My fear of encountering rude students in the future vanished because of this school environment. I will choose this school for my practice teaching as I am impressed by the behaviour of the students here. They are disciplined and early in the morning, you will see most of them cleaning outside. Others are watering the plants and cleaning the classrooms. They're so responsible and I think it's rare here for students to skip classes (and talk back to the teachers).
This journey of mine is not alone because I am with my fellow 4th yr. students. Do you know what's the actual fun of this? It is when we commute together in the morning and we have small talk and laughs. Then we go home together riding jeepney. It's a thrill when the jeepney driver drives so fast just like the one time. There are only very few passengers, I think two strangers and me with my other three classmates. Since there's no traffic and the road is clear, it feels like the jeepney is going to fly and we feel our knees shaking from the fast pace. I was wondering what my classmate sitting in front felt during that time. I was joking at the back of my mind, is this the final destiny? Haha. There are drivers who drive like hell but I never heard of cases where there's a jeepney accident and the passengers are dead in our locality. (fingers crossed)
We're still students so I hope not. Not all jeepney drivers are like that though, some drive slowly and carefully. It's a matter of luck what kind of driver you would encounter next.
Flexing the flower I received from one of the students in the classrooms I have observed. I didn't expect it to be honest because we are not an intern yet. We're only here for the observation but then she gives me this beautiful hand-made flower. This is given to me on our last day of observation in the classroom. She said she's giving this because for a while we've been with them. I have another classmate observing with me in the same classroom. And I am so touched by her act of showing importance to us. This is where I realized then that students here are appreciative and it melts my heart.
My Field Study 1 in this school is smooth and memorable. I don't feel pressured and I feel in touch with the moment. I can say it's true that whatever you put in your mind will totally reflect you. I choose to see this as a big part of growth and real-life learning experience. I can't wait to update you about Field Study 2 which is no longer plainly observation but an assistantship. After the completion of our Field Study is our Classroom-Based Action Research. Then the most awaited finale, oh not yet but the sweetest part among all is our Official Pinning Ceremony as a Pre-Service Teacher with our nameplate! Wish me luck! 👩🏫
Eyyy, you've been so busy pala striving on your chosen course. Kunting kembot nalang Syd. Soon you'll teach na, for real as a job and not as a practice teaching. Kayamg kaya na yarn for sure 👏👏😊

Ahh and welcome to next semester for your practice teaching .
You are lucky now somehow you can implement modern way. Unlike in my times, we needs a lot of manila paper and Pentel pens.
Salamat lhes! Nakaka-excite at the same time nakakakaba huhu.
Educ din ba course mo? Buti nga may ppts na ngayon ang hirap gumawa ng visual materials.
