With a new typhoon coming in, most Cebuanos are put into a deep sigh as we are half-expecting to go through that devastating experience once again.
Not to mention that this upcoming typhoon is supposed to be "mild" yet it seems to be pulling a bigger one along the Pacific Ocean. Or I don't know. It was sunny earlier then came a heavy downpour. You just never know.
Because Typhoon Odette really got us in a pickle. We had to leave our life in Cebu and live up north temporarily just to save our jobs (and our sanity) 🤷♀
Looking back to our post-typhoon experience, I still couldn't believe we were able to spend a month in hiatus and transition to a life quite different from one we were used to. Talk about provincial life.
It was an eye-opener and now that we are back to the ‘new normal’, a part of me missed that slow-paced life back in Catmon. Life was simple. We didn’t have to go out that much. And time was peculiarly slow.
How Life is Like in the City
Here in the city, we are always overwhelmed with the work hours and the responsibilities after work hours. And there aren’t any plants in sight. The air is humid and stuffy compared to the hills. And we always have this need to make the most of our time by doing extra work with our clients and finding more ways to earn online. You just need to keep up with the city life.
Living a Slow-paced Life in Catmon
We have moved into this new place and it was on top of the hills. The air was cool and it was so quiet! Very different from our home in the city.
Views in the Mornings
The mornings are amazing at Catmon. We used to wake up at 5 AM and we get to hang out by the doorstep, sip some coffee and look at the sun making its way to the horizon. The air is quite cool and the town is just so peaceful.
Just like any weekday, we start it by looking at the computer or laptop. But when in Catmon, we had the time to go for a short walk even if it was just for a while. And this was our everyday scenario...
The center of the town during a sunrise
How the Market Looks Like
Amazing Sky Views in the Afternoon
How We First Cooked Our Food
Talk about provincial life! We both didn't have any idea how to do this at first. Good thing we have neighbors who are kind enough to teach us how.
P.S. The first one I cooked was humba which involves thick slices of pork and it takes more than an hour to make them tender.
How We Spend our Weekends
Our impulsive drive at Bunzie's Cove in Tabogon, Cebu!
Our resort hopping in the affordable resorts in Catmon
What Date Night is Like
We had this amazing dinner at AJK Resort before entirely moving out of Catmon and going back to the city.
Sometimes, date nights would be getting iced coffee or milk tea in town. And it's not exactly night time since most shops close at 7 PM.
And don't forget...
If you're passing by Catmon, you'd see a lot of displays like this one. After all, Catmon is known for its authentic tuba which is coconut sap vinegar. Of course, we had to grab a few bottles of spicy tuba before heading home.
That was our life in a nutshell. Though it only took us a month, the experience was so memorable. Still, it made us appreciate the mundane things that we took for granted at home.
Sure, the Catmon experience was fun and totally new -- but nothing beats the comforts and security of your own home.
Your photos are so nice it makes me want to take the plane back to Cebu right now 😅

I am praying na sana huwag na ulit maulit ang kagawa ng typhoon odette. By the way, I love your photography, I love the church, and the way of cooking. Magandang umaga ang keep safe.
Thank you! Really appreciate it 😊 And I'm praying too that it won't happen again
You're welcome (^_^)
I stayed in an Airbnb in Catmon (High Steps) and it was also located on top of a hill. The view of the sunrise over the sea was amazing.
After the typhoon, we also rented a house while ours was being prepared. We returned after 2 months. Nothing beats going back to your home. 😁
I guess we had the same experience. I've also tried to book at High Steps. It was fully booked back then. But yeah, it felt so good to be back home 😊
I like the photos you take :) they're beautiful I especially like the blue skies and the city pic
Thank you! Really appreciate it 🙌
