As a student myself, achieving what one set out as his or her goals is a very big thing that gives satisfaction and a feeling of accomplishment. It indicates the reward of commitment, sweat, and tears. More often than not, the path toward these milestones is lined with obstacles and questions as a student, but once you achieve success, all the struggles seem worth it.
Entering senior high school is a vital step in one’s academic path, opening new doors and ultimately creating various chances for experiences and knowledge. This can be exciting and frightening to students all the same time, as it plays a part in their next path of life and it creates stepping stones for their new goals to come in the future. It is quite challenging to make this transition amidst self-doubt and confusion of what one is actually capable of doing.
Despite my fears of failure, I had learned through experiences and relentless effort that beyond each mist of fear stretched a canopy of success. That however timidly I ventured towards my objectives, each baby step deserved a feather. The transition and experience of understanding myself in my first year taught me a lot, but none were as impactful as what senior high school taught me about never giving up and up steadfast self-belief.
This journey of mine being a grade 11 HUMSS student was a new and unfamiliar path to me. The challenges and doubts that came in my way to prepare for this academic strand has tested my confidence, drive and perseverance on ways I thought I wouldn’t to deal with. As the first semester comes to an end and as I see my goal of with honors become into a tough reality, it never once let me down. The first semester was an emotional and academic rollercoaster. Although under expectations, I did not meet the requirements for with high honors, but I did maintain to be the second top student of my class.
I gained a lot of insights and realizations from my grade 11 journey; one of the most important is that success is not just an accolade or a title. Instead, it hinges on one’s journey to consistently become the best person they can be. And as the days turn into the second semester, a new set of challenges were there to greet me. Rejection during our title hearing and a skipped test administered another setback as my tenacity and determination are tested over and over again. That said, I have always been one to persevere, and with honors, I was able to pull through again alike despite not retaining my former top spot. This experiences during grade 11, the important lessons for the incoming senior high students need to be aware of is first, the need for resilience.
One of the goals is to identify some of the main qualities and characteristics every student should possess to become more successful in the academic and professional spheres. Thus, the first characteristics is the ability to recover and win after a failure. I believe that it is important to consider all the existing issues and problems as a contribution to a better life. When you challenge yourself, you have more chances to become stronger in various spheres, learn some new things, and become a better person.
Second is referred to as perseverance. It is not enough to have a strong desire and wish to be successful. Instead, a student has to be ready to work hard to meet the target or target sets. It is necessary to be interested in studying and never stop, even if the first or several attempts have not brought the anticipated results. Third in constant self-improvement. Every failure happens to demonstrate something new about people and their strengths and weaknesses. Students have to develop their abilities, work on their skills, and prove that they deserve the best outcome.
Careful planning can be particularly beneficial. Whether it comes to one’s academic assignments, or internship. Having a support system is very helpful. Whether it comes to family and friends, the knowledge that there is someone to listen, to support and to motivate, can give one the confidence and encouragement needed to get through tough academic times. And balance is the key. Aiming to find a balance between one’s academic, social and extracurricular life can help one to fill more confident and motivated while achieving success in their life. Making sure to take care of mental and physical well-being is important for a long-term academic performance.
And now that I am about to be a graduating student in Senior High, the trials and triumphs of my first year in senior high school shaped me to a more tenacious and determined person. Being a student in this academic year has equipped me with the lessons that I intend to overcome all the personality challenges and successes that life has to present.
I would not be able to survive this school year without my friends as well, and I bet some of you knew them already as I have mentioned them on my last blog. To my girlypops, TTT, I would never come this far without your help and support. Adjusting to this new environment was never been easy but they made it fun. With honors or not, I am still beyond proud of them. I saw how they worked hard just to reach their goals, even some of them did not expect that they’ll have with honors. To my other friends as well, for always encouraging and boosting me up when I feel drained and burn out from school, they are always free and never hesitate to lend their shoulders when I needed someone to lean on.
And most importantly, for seventeen. For being my source of strength when life is already at it's lowest.
Congrats to all the students this school year as well. Who have braved through challenges, late nights of studying, and moments of doubts. All of your hard works and dedications have brought you this moment of success. Embrace all the achievements and know that you are capable of achieving great things. These are just the beginning of a bright future ahead. Keep believing in yourself and reaching for your dreams.
