A Day To Remember: From Fear to Preparedness, DRRM Training!

in Hive PH2 days ago

Hello @everyone it's me again @yannarose back at it again with another blog!!! It's been a while since I last posted a blog!! How are you?

Fear of blood has always been my trauma since I was young. Not just blood but I often get nervous when there's a great disaster or risk beside me. It's always been my insecurity seeing people ready to face those kinds of disasters and help them in any way. Driven by the passion of learning and overcoming my anxiety, I joined the school's Disaster Risk Reduction Management team. At first I was really reluctant in joining since given by the fact that I am inexperienced in those kinds of things yet the passion of learning pushed me to join.

Before I officially start my blog, I would love to welcome you to my little corner of the internet where I share my ideas, experiences, everyday life, aspirations, goals, dreams, travels and reflections. So Please enjoy reading my blog!

Today I'm gonna be sharing to you my first DRRM official training experience.

At that specific day where the training is scheduled to happen, I was really nervous. Though, before that me and my co trainees has trained ourselves at the DRRM's office by the help of our seniors, already the nervousness is still there. At first we wore our PPE that is really needed before we respond.

I was appointed as a part of medic team, which is so ironic because given the fact that I am afraid of blood, but yeah I am willing to overcome that fear for the sake of serving and learning. We we're trained on how to properly do the bandaging and the possible injuries. We were trained so many things.

Though we are a part of the medic team we are also still trained on how to do proper lifting for the reason that there are many possibilities that may happen during a disaster. I learned many things that day which I honestly loved so much. I mean, that's my goal, fo learn.

But the most fun part of that is I am learning with the people who are willing to serve the community. Witnessing this fueled my passion more on being a future responder. These people I am with is concerned more about service and not expecting something in return which touched my heart really. My seniors were also so kind and passionate in their work.

After the training me, my co-trainees and our senior went to eat to reward ourselves, they're really fun the to be with. There's just something when your with the people who are passionate and genuine. You can't go wrong when your with them.

Being a part of the DRRM is not easy as I thought it would be. It involves serving and most especially you are in charge of a persons life which is a very crucial role. Hadling or rescuing someone simply means that his/her life somehow depends on your hands. It's not that easy. It was just a training yet the burden of a rescuer is starting to creep within our senses. So I personally salute all the rescuers out there who are willing to sacrifice their lives just to serve the people.

So let's take time to appreciate our Disaster Responders out there by showing them our words of gratitude for their sacrifices.

" Real service is seen on those people who expect nothing in return for the blessing will surely follow them."
