"Good afternoon. We need 8 youth members ages 15–26 for the youth camp this August 21–23."

Family First.
"Sir, may I request an ambulance?"
"It depends on the case."
"What is the patient’s case?"
"Where should we pick it up."
"She had an accident last week. She now has difficulty communicating and eating. She can’t stand. She is currently bedridden and needs to be confined."
"Where should we confine her."
"Where did the accident happen."

Days before the camp, life took an unexpected turn. My grandmother had an accident, altering our camp plans. My niece and cousin couldn't join anymore because of the accident. The opportunity was rare, so I searched for a replacement.
On August 18, I reached out to friends and volunteers, seeking two participants. Rejections followed, and it seemed like a daunting task. At first, a friend of mine said yes, and later on, she said she had something important to attend that day. She recommended someone who might join. I struggled to convince another youth to join, so I gave one slot to another barangay. I merely gave up by giving the three slots to other barangays when suddenly another friend of mine said yes.
On August 21, 2023, I picked up my friend, who, unfortunately, was suffering from dysmenorrhea. With no time to spare and no choice but to go on, I borrowed her tent and set off for the camp alone.
Three Days of Transformation
Day 1: Knowledge Gain
The camp kicked off with seminars led by the National Youth Commission, offering insights into leadership and personal growth.
Day 2: Fun and Unity
I intentionally blurred the picture. I want to be anonymous.
The camp was a whirlwind of fun and excitement, from zumba sessions to team-building challenges. We even had a playful pageant and a fantastic foam party. With minimal preparation, we created a yell/call, designed a flag, performed an intermission number, and fashioned pageant gowns. The challenges taught us priceless lessons in teamwork and adaptability.
Day 3: Overcoming Challenges
The final day brought more zumba and team activities, pushing us to our limits.
The camp gathered over 200 participants from diverse organizations, fostering connections and camaraderie. The picturesque resort venue provided us with an opportunity to relax and unwind by the beach, strengthening the bonds that we'd formed.
While my journey to the Leadership Camp was marked by unexpected twists, it taught me that leadership and adaptability go hand in hand. Life's curveballs may disrupt plans, but they can also lead to remarkable growth and unexpected friendships forged through shared experiences. This experience will remain engraved in my memory as a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of family and friends.
That’s all!
