Now whose heart won't melt when one see this scene?
This is actually a laborious walk but I'll call it a date since this little man made my heart very happy.
On August 13th, Sunday, my husband had to go to work, He did sidelines to earn money and he got to referee a basketball league game that day. We originally planned to go to the farm since we hired men to help us plant cassava but since he had to go, I volunteered to go since I wouldn't be helping them do teh laborious work but only cook for their lunch.
The husband couldn't get us to the farm on his motorcycle so we went on a commute but it took us too long and good thing I saw my cousin and brought us to one of the ways to the farm.
Broken but still passable.
We got to pass on this broken bridge, broken but still passable. Photo taken on our way back. The metal bridge was damaged by the huge flood brought by the rain a few weeks before we came. It's not the first time it happened. Way back many years when people only made a bamboo bridge to cross the river, it was washed out by the flood
@tonton23 and I usually go to the farm every Sunday but he had to referee a basketball game so I volunteered to go there. I had to go because my husband asked men to work on the farm, so we could plant our crops as soon as we had rain.
I bought meat (pork leg) and veggies and planned to make a soup for them. While buying, my son asked for his share pointing out this and that in the store and I bought him a hotel of coke and some snacks.
Flowers for me
My cousin dropped us beside the highway, just right before the bridge. I smiled at the people who stood by in the waiting area and helped my son cross the bridge. It was scary! But on the other side, there were lots of small flowers that resembled sunflowers and my lovely son picked one and gave it to me.
Up the Hill
It's getting late and we need to hurry so Up we went and both of us were panting. we are not used to hiking and climbing a hill, also, I had to carry loads of supplies.
The Sun was hot too and thanks to the trees around that gives us fresh air and shade.
My son was entertained by the cattle we saw on the way too. Czak imitates its sound and we both laughed.
We passed by on vast cassava farm and tehre was a pig too
This is how loaded I was.
I got a backpack full of my son's extra clothes and milk. And a bag of meat and vegetables on my hand too.
Halfway to the farm, my son complained that he was tired and wanted to go back home. It was his first time passing through that road and we were on foot and he was afraid that we had been walking for a few minutes and he didn't see a familiar place yet.
My newly bought boots from a thrift store caused me blisters on my right foot so I removed them and walked barefoot a few meters from the farm. My feet ached a lot because the gravel on the road was very sharp, I did not bring extra slippers, and my son was worried about them and I was touched.
Cook and Eat
As soon as we arrived on the farm, I cooked rice and soup after. There was very little water left on the water container, and the good thing is that the boys who worked on the farm volunteered to get some from the spring.
Cuddles
After we had our lunch, the boys went back to work and left me and my son on the Payag. My son asked for milk and asked for cuddles. Whenever I was around, he always wanted me to cuddle him while having his milk.
Checking their work
Past 2 in the afternoon and the sun was not that hot, I took my son to where the boys were. As expected, they went easy; the eldest among them was having his DIY cigar made of tobacco leaves and java plum leaf. The younger boys played while working too. the problem with not having a boss around.
Czak played with cassava stalks and soil and he had a great time.
Their work
To plants cassava again, we needed to cut the old stalks allowing 5-7 eyes for the new plant to grow a sprout and roots.
Ever Loyal
Snapping photos around, I noticed Jackelyn, our ever loyal furry friend who follows us wherever we go on the farm. She is over ten years old but still strong and ever more loyal.
Her original owners left and transfered to another place so we kind of adopted her and she loved us back too.
Preparing to go home
I still wanted to do something at home so I left the boys and headed home, While preparing, my son found an old and abandoned bee hive. It was taken by kuya bosing from the tamarind tree and Czak was in awe about it.
Have you ever seen one up close?
Another load to carry
My son was tired and sleepy but we still had to walk our way back to the highway. My son is wlaking too slow so Id decided to carry him onmy shoulders whichs he enjoyed so much. He was heavy, weighing 13 kilograms and I almost could not feel my shoulders when I put him down.
But to be safe, I only carried him up until the flat part of the way; it will be very hard if I slip and we roll our way down the hill.
We passed on the broken bridge again and went to my cousin's house to pay respect before riding a jeep towards home. Auntie had a mild stroke recently and boy, she was happy to see me.
It was a very hot day and tiring too but I enjoyed every bit of it especially having an adventure with my son. It gave us a new kind of bonding and fun.
That goes for my #wednesdaywalk, a visit to the farm and a new adventure with my son.
What a fun walk and date. I always bring an extra pair of slippers or kahit bandaid man lang kapag may bagong shoes. That must have hurt a lot.
