I really can't believe how time flies. Today is the 2nd anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Turkey. It is now long forgotten by people because so much time has passed, but I cannot forget that day.
The emotions I experienced that day are still fresh. I was not in the earthquake zone, but I was so worried about my girlfriend until she left the earthquake zone unharmed that I was constantly trying to get news from her. I was afraid that something would happen to her if I could not talk to her even for 1 hour. She was constantly telling me about the difficulties she was going through. It is not possible for me to fully convey the feelings I had at that moment, it took me a long time to get rid of the fear inside me. Even after my girlfriend went into her house, I continued to wake up at night for a while. Fortunately, I got over it.
This earthquake made me realize how strong Hive is and maybe that's what connected me to Hive because we did our best for the earthquake zone with the support of people at that time. I was proud that the whole Hive family supported me at that time. People trusted me and I did my best not to let them down. In the end, we did it together and we transferred the power of Hive there. I would have loved to go to the earthquake zone myself, but it was very difficult to go there at that time because the roads were cracked and many of them were unusable. Official channels were constantly telling us to avoid traffic because it would delay the arrival of aid to the area. And unfortunately some bandits would cut people off and take their valuables. The fact that people can think of stealing even in such situations is a reminder that bad people have no shame, no pity and no compassion. I saw on the news that foreign migrants were stealing jewelry even from the dead, and that was a period when my perspective on migrants was sharpened.
Two years later, those areas have still not fully recovered. Many people are staying in container cities and I am sure there are still people living in tents. This is a shame for our country because Turkey is known for its success in the construction sector. Especially in recent years, I have seen in the news that many companies have built important buildings abroad. At the point we have reached today, I think 2 years is enough time for a city to recover in terms of construction. Again and again, some people are not fulfilling their duties. Since I don't have friends living in that region, I can't get instant information from the region, but we see something in the news, especially on anniversaries. There are still people who have not been found, maybe their dead bodies were pulled out from under the cave-in and buried without being identified. This is a very painful situation. I hope no country will ever face such a disaster. Even if there is such an earthquake, I hope not so many people will die.
There are now reports of many earthquakes in the Aegean Sea. Some areas in Greece have been evacuated because there is a danger of a volcano. I hope that these are just small earthquakes and that there is no loss of life or property, because there is a very dense population living in that area, including people I love very much. Zaman nasıl geçiyor gerçekten inanamıyorum. Bugün Türkiye'de gerçekleşen yıkıcı depremin 2. yıl dönümü. Artık üzerinden çok zaman geçtiği için insanlar tarafından unutulmaya yüz tuttu ama ben o günü unutamıyorum.
O gün yaşadığım duygular hala taze. Ben deprem bölgesinde değildim ama kız arkadaşım deprem bölgesinden sağ salim ayrılana kadar onun için o kadar endişelenmiştim ki, sürekli olarak ondan haber almaya çalışıyordum. 1 saat bile konuşamasam başına bir şey gelmesinden korkuyordum. O da sürekli olarak bana yaşadığı zorluklardan bahsediyordu. O an yaşadığım hisleri size tam anlamıyla aktarmam mümkün değil, içimdeki korkuyu atmam çok uzun sürdü. Kız arkadaşım evine girdikten sonra bile bir süre geceleri uykumdan uyanmaya devam ettim. Neyse ki artık bunu aştım.
Bu deprem benim Hive'ın ne kadar güçlü olduğunu görmemi sağladı ve belki de beni Hive'a bağlayan şey oldu çünkü o dönem insanların destekleriyle deprem bölgesi için elimizden geleni yapmıştık. Tüm Hive ailesinin o dönem bana destek vermiş olması benim için gurur vericiydi. İnsanlar bana güvendi ve ben de onların güvenini boşa çıkarmamak için elimden geleni yaptım. Sonunda biz bunu birlikte başardık ve Hive'ın gücünü oraya aktardık. Bizzat deprem bölgesine gitmeyi çok isterdim ancak o dönem oraya gitmek de oldukça zordu çünkü yollar çatlamıştı ve pek çoğu kullanılamaz durumdaydı. Resmi kanallardan sürekli olarak trafiğe çıkılmaması gerektiği söyleniyordu çünkü bu o bölgeye yardımın ulaşmasını geciktiriyordu. Üstelik maalesef bazı haydutlar insanların yolunu kesip değerli eşyalarını gasp ediyordu. İnsanların böyle durumlarda bile hırsızlığı düşünebilmesi kötü insanların asla utanma, acıma ve merhamet gibi duygulara sahip olmadığını hatırlatıyor. Yabancı uyruklu göçmenlerin ölülerin bile ziynet eşyalarını çaldığını haberlerde gördüm, o dönem benim göçmenlere karşı bakış açımın keskinleştiği bir dönemdi.
İki yılın ardından hala o bölgeler tam anlamıyla toparlanabilmiş değil. Pek çok insan konteynır kentlerde kalıyor ve eminim hala çadırda yaşayan insanlar vardır. Bu da ülkemiz adına bir utanç göstergesi çünkü Türkiye inşaat sektöründeki başarısıyla bilinir. Özellikle son yıllarda pek çok firmanın yurtdışındaki önemli binaları da inşa ettiğini haberlerde görmüştüm. Şimdi bugün geldiğimiz noktada 2 yıl bence bir şehrin inşa açısından toparlanması için yeterli bir süre. Yine ve yeniden bazıları üzerine düşen görevleri yerine getirmiyor. O bölgede yaşayan arkadaşlarım olmadığı için bölgeden anlık bilgi alamıyorum ama özellikle yıl dönümlerinde haberlerde bir şeyler görüyoruz. Hala bulunamayan insanlar var, belki de göçük altından ölü bedenleri çıkarıldı ve teşhis edilmeden gömüldü. Bu çok acı verici bir durum. Umarım hiçbir ülke böyle bir felaketle karşı karşıya kalmaz. Böyle bir deprem yaşansa bile umarım bu kadar insan ölmez.
Şimdilerde Ege denizinde pek çok depremin olduğu haberleri var. Yunanistan'da bazı bölgeler boşaltılmış çünkü bir yanardağ tehlikesi var. Umarım bunlar sadece ufak depremlerdir ve hiçbir can ya da mal kaybı yaşanmaz zira o bölgede yaşayan çok yoğun bir nüfus var ve buna çok sevdiğim insanlar da dahil. Okuduğunuz için teşekkür ederim.
