Greetings, I hope you are well and everything is fine. I'm not doing so well because yesterday Galatasaray had a Uefa Europa League match, but contrary to what I expected, it was a terrible match for Galatasaray, so we'll talk a little bit about that today.
First of all, I think there are a few different people responsible for this game, I'm going to talk about them in order, I'm going to go from the side that in my opinion has the biggest share in this defeat to the least. Let's start with the manager, Okan Buruk is one of the most successful managers in Turkey, he has led Galatasaray to two consecutive league championships and he is in a very advantageous position for a third title. He could be the first manager to achieve this in 25 years. But when it comes to games against European opponents, there is a serious failure. The elimination against Sparta Prague last year, the elimination against Young Boys in the Champions League qualifiers at the beginning of the season and last night's 4-1 defeat against AZ Aalkmar in the Uefa Europa League qualifiers are the biggest examples. The fact that all of these teams have not even a quarter of the budget and value as a team, and probably a tenth of the value of Young Boys, says it all. Young Boys didn't even get 1 point in the Champions League this season, scoring only 3 goals and conceding 24 goals in 8 games. In other words, they conceded an average of 3 goals in the games they played. Galatasaray, on the other hand, only scored 2 goals in two games against this team at the beginning of the year.
To elaborate a bit more on the manager, it should be unacceptable for a manager to still have the same squad on the pitch in this match as the one that was eliminated last year, to make changes late and the biggest mistake, the player who caused Galatasaray's elimination last year, to cause Galatasaray's elimination with the same mistake in this match. I'm talking about Kaan Ayhan, last year against Sparta Prague, he was shown a red card in the 70th minute, leaving the team down to 10 men and Galatasaray crumbled. Yesterday I saw the same thing happening again. This time, in the 50th minute, Kaan Ayhan fouled in a very unnecessary position and got a red card. If Okan Buruk didn't see that this player would be sent off, he is a bad manager. If this is not the case, Okan Buruk might not have dared to take Kaan Ayhan off because he was afraid of losing the player. In every team there are influential players and the coaches don't want to be at odds with them. If this is the case, then there is a big disciplinary problem and it's the manager's fault because the most important thing is for the team to win the game, even if you are on good terms with all the players, if you don't win the games you are sent off.
I think the management also had a part to play in the loss of this match because the transfers should not be left to the last day when the deficiencies in Galatasaray's squad have been so obvious since the beginning of the year and the injuries are obvious. Because in the winter transfer window, the later you make a transfer, the more expensive the players are. Nobody wants to sell a good player that they can't replace or sell him at a very high price when the transfer deadline is close. Moreover, the quality of the players bought is questionable. Yes, Lemina, Morata and Ahmed Kutucu, one of the in-form players of the league, have been brought in, but Cuesta, who was transferred as a stopper, is far below expectations. In my opinion, he is a player worth 2-3 million, not 8 million. His height is short for a stopper and he is not very successful in his tackles from the ground. It is unacceptable that in yesterday's match he had 5 duels in the first half and failed to win any of them. A stopper should always dominate the attackers. Because if you make 1 mistake out of 5, you will see a goal in your box. The late transfers are not only costly but also bad for the acclimatization process of the players. Cuesta transferred to Galatasaray on February 5 and on February 13 he started one of Galatasaray's most important games of the season. A stopper is always thought of in pairs and he probably didn't even get a few training sessions with his partner. It will take at least a month for the chemistry between them to build.
Now about the players. I admit that almost all of Galatasaray's players played badly yesterday, but I will mention one player in particular, Kaan Ayhan. If you are a professional player you cannot be sent off like that. You did the same thing last year and you saw how the team fell apart after you were sent off. How can you do it again? And this time you were sent off in the 50th minute instead of the 70th and you left the team 10 men earlier. How do you expect your team to achieve anything from that moment on when they are already playing badly? What are you thinking when you do that? Sometimes there are necessary fouls, the opposition player is going to score and you have to stop him, I've seen the position 10 times and there's no need for that. If the opposition player tackles Kaan Ayhan, there will be no scoring position, maybe he will shoot and it will go out or the goalkeeper will save it. I can never accept this and I don't know what to say. But if I was the manager I would have ordered him to watch the last 25 minutes of the Sparta Prague game last year and the second half of this game 100 times. He has to realize how much damage his sending off has done to the team. It's not just about playing without a player, but psychologically it has a terrible effect on the team.

Kaan Ayhan'dan bahsediyorum, geçen yıl Sparta Prag'a karşı 70. dakikada gördüğü kırmızı kartla takımı 10 kişi bırakmıştı ve Galatasaray dağılmıştı. Dün aynı şeylerin tekrarlandığını gördüm. Kaan Ayhan bu sefer 50. dakikada son derece gereksiz bir pozisyonda ve sarı karta sahipken faul yaptı ve kırmızı kart gördü. Okan Buruk bu futbolcunun atılacağını görmediyse kötü bir teknik direktördür. Eğer söz konusu olan şey bu değilse Okan Buruk, Kaan Ayhan'ı çıkarmaya cesaret edememiş olabilir çünkü oyuncuyu kaybetmekten korkmuştur. Evet Lemina, Morata ve ligin formda oyuncularından Ahmed Kutucu gibi transferler yapıldı ancak stopere transfer edilen Cuesta beklentinin çok altında. Bana göre 8 milyon değil 2-3 milyon değerinde bir oyuncu. Boyu bir stoper için kısa ve yerden yaptığı müdahalelerde de çok başarılı değil. Dünkü maçta ilk yarıda 5 ikili mücadeleye girip hiçbirini kazanamaması kabul edilemez. Bir stoper her zaman hücumculara üstünlük kurmalıdır. Çünkü 5 seferde 1 kere hata yaptığınızda kalenizde golü görürsünüz. Transferlerin geç yapılması sadece maliyet değil oyuncuların takıma alışma süreci açısından da kötü bir durum. Cuesta 5 Şubat tarihinde Galatasaray'a transfer oldu ve 13 Şubat'ta Galatasaray'ın sezon içindeki en önemli maçlarından birine çıktı. Stoperler her zaman ikili olarak düşünülür ve muhtemelen partneriyle birlikte birkaç antrenmana bile çıkamadı. Aralarındaki uyumun oluşması en az 1 ay sürecektir.
Şimdi de oyunculara gelelim. Dün Galatasaray'daki oyuncuların neredeyse hepsi kötü oynadı bunu kabul ediyorum ama bir oyuncuya özellikle değineceğim, Kaan Ayhan. Eğer profesyonel bir oyuncuysan bu şekilde oyundan atılamazsın. Üstelik bunun aynısını geçen yıl yaptın ve takımın sen atıldıktan sonra nasıl dağıldığnı gördün. Bunu nasıl tekrarlayabilirsin? Üstelik bu sefer 70 yerine 50. dakikada oyundan atıldın ve takımı daha erken 10 kişi bıraktın. O andan itibaren takımın zaten kötü oynuyorken nasıl bir şeyler başarmasını bekliyorsun? Bu hareketi yaparken aklından ne geçiyor? Bazen gerekli fauller vardır, rakip oyuncu gole gidiyordur ve onu durdurman gerekir, pozisyonu 10 kere izledim ve böyle bir şeye hiç gerek yok. Rakip oyuncu Kaan Ayhan'ı çalımlasa gol pozisyonu olmayacak, belki şut çekecek ve dışarı gidecek ya da kaleci kurtaracak. Ben bunu asla kabul edemiyorum ve ne diyeceğimi de bilmiyorum.
