Cinco años después, la final de la Copa de la Liga Inglesa no incluye al Manchester City. El ganador de seis de las últimas ocho ediciones de ésta competición cayó ante el West Ham United en octavos de final. Son el Chelsea y el Liverpool quienes llegan a la máxima instancia éste año, pasando por unas semifinales de ida y vuelta donde no permitieron que le marcaran goles. Metidos en el top 3 de la Premier League, esperábamos que éste encuentro fuera uno de los más emocionantes del Reino Unido en éste año.

Wembley recibe otra nueva batalla entre azules y rojos, en un momento donde Europa vive una guerra literal. Los blues son alineados con lo mejor disponible. Con un técnico que ha dicho que si perder contra el Liverpool ayudaría a Ucrania, con gusto lo haría, admitiendo que su plantilla está afectada por lo que está sucediendo en el continente. ¿Por qué está Reece James en banca, pudiendo estar Azpilicueta en la línea de tres y dalre la banda derecha al inglés? Esto muestra la confianza que tiene Tuchel al defensor Chalobah. ¿Y dónde está el 9 de área? En cuanto a los reds, me ha sorprendido enormemente ver a Kelleher bajo los tres palos, cuando Alisson es el llamado a estos eventos importantes. Ante la ausencia de Firmino, el colombiano Luis Diaz recibe la titularidad en vez de Diogo Jota. Todos los demás nombres son habituales, peligrosos y con mucha calidad. Y cuando miramos al banco, hay mucha profunidad: Alisson, Milner, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jota... El técnico teutón Klopp se muestra positivo ante la posibilidad que tienen de obtener cuatro copas en la misma temporada. Éste podría ser el primero de ellos y pone toda la carne sobre la brasa.

En éste tramo se respondieron dos de mis preguntas. Entendí que Chalobah estaba allí por la gran velocidad que tiene Lucho. Cada vez que quedaba el colombiano encarando a Chalobah, se veía al defensa un tanto incómodo. Lamentablemente, Azpilicueta tuvo que salir en el minuto 42 e ingresó precisamente Reece James, quien, al apenas recuperarse de su lesión se vió algo medido, conservador, incluso hasta dando pases que apenas llegaban a su compañero.

In this stretch two of my questions were answered. I understood that Chalobah was there because of Lucho's great speed. Whenever the Colombian was left facing Chalobah, the defender looked a bit uncomfortable. Unfortunately, Azpilicueta had to come off in the 42nd minute and Reece James came on, who, having just recovered from his injury, looked a bit measured, conservative, even making passes that barely reached his teammate.
Ya en la segunda mitad siguió el Chelsea desaprovechando oportunidades. Y siguió el Liverpool apostando por el manejo del balón. Sin duda, la ausencia de Thiago Alcántara (lesionado en el calentamiento y visto en la transmisión llorando en el arranque del partido) debió de dolerle mucho a los reds, ya que si iban con ésta mentalidad, Thiago claramente maneja y surte mejor el balón que Keita. El campeón de África Mendy volvió a realizar dos tremendas paradas. Y su homólogo Kelleher también se erigía imponente debajo de la portería, haciendo impenetrable en los 90 minutos.
Digno de mención fue el arbitraje en ésta oportunidad. Stuar Attwell dirigió magistralmente el encuentro, donde permitió jugar y evitó interrumpir el juego innecesariamente. Además, vimos la primera amarilla en el minuto 89, ya que se dedicaba a advertir, conversar y dejar fluir el encuentro. Tuvo que hacer eso incluso con el entrenador Klopp quien estuvo algo subido de tono en ésta segunda parte y fue advertido por el colegiado. Llegaron Lukaku y Werner para pivotear arriba, y Elliot, Milner y Jota para refrescar desde el medio hacia adelante. Ésto indicó claramente que ambos entrenadores querían evitar el tiempo extra. Creo que fueron atinados éstos cambios.
In the second half Chelsea continued to miss chances. And Liverpool continued to play with the ball. No doubt the absence of Thiago Alcántara (injured in the warm-up and seen on the broadcast crying at the start of the match) must have hurt the Reds a lot, because if they were going with this mentality, Thiago clearly handles and delivers the ball better than **Keita. En el tiempo extra, creo que se notó más en el Chelsea el cambio que quiso implementar Tuchel, ya que ahora tenían a Lukaku bien fijado arriba, al quien podían dirigir los balonazos para cuando necesitaran una salida angustiosa desde la defensa, y que él combatiera con los centrales. Pudo sacar algunas faltas y permitir la reorganización del equipo en ofensiva. También llegamos a ver goles, pero anulados por el VAR.
Ésto no quiere decir que los cambios de Klopp hayan sido malos, sino que siguieron apostando por la misma forma de jugar y planteamiento del partido. Sin embargo, el emocional técnico puso en cancha a dos de los jugadores que más le han resultados cuando los ingresa: el archiconocido Origi y al joven Konaté, quien es una especie de amuleto para asegurar un resultado positivo. El marcador no se movió. Y llegó el único cambio que, aunque entiendo por qué se hizo, no estoy de acuerdo: Kepa entró por Mendy.

Y a pesar que vi varios rostros de los jugadores que no parecían muy convencidos, pudieron marcar. Kelleher sólo pudo adivinar 4 disparos, y Kepa adivinó 3 disparos. El par más emocionante para mí fue el tercero, donde Van Dijk disparó un misil a la derecha del español, quien ya estaba ubicado de ése lado, pero el balón llevaba tanta potencia que no pudo detenerlo. Y luego, Havertz con mucha frialdad marcó en un disparo que buscó engañar al jugador. Éste aleman parece que no tiene sangre en las venas.
Luego de esos 20 turnos, quedó todo en manos de los porteros. Kelleher le regaló su novena copa de la liga al Liverpool, y Kepa le regaló un souvenir a un aeroestático que volaba por encima de Wembley. Liverpool gana con casi el doble de disparos que su oponente, más de cinco veces más en tiros de esquina, con una posesión del balón y efectividad de pases, y un marcador final de 10:11 en tanda de penales. Bien merecido, fueron fieles a su estilo en todo el encuentro.

1. CAOIMHIN KELLEHER (Liverpool). Muchos nos preguntábamos por qué no estaba Allisson atajando. Aquí está la respuesta. Al menos cuatro paradas impresionantes que no dejaron que el marcador se moviera, un saque de bowling muy acertado y con propósito, y su super valioso gol de penal que marcó cuando le tocó. Enorme... el jugador indiscutible.
2. EDOUARD MENDY (Chelsea). Tuvo manos firmes con esos disparos envenedados de los reds. Llevó varios golpes durísimos, y pudo reincorporarse y seguir en el encuentro. Se le vio organizando la defensa en un par de ocasiones, especialmente de su lado derecho con la posición del joven Challobah. Sólo tuvo un error gravísimo en sus 119 minutos de juego. Una efectividad sobresaliente.
3. LUIS DIAZ (Liverpool). Estuvo muy incisivo en la banda izquierda de ataque. Ganó casi todos los duelos a Chalobah. Logró tener remates al arco y sólo recuerdo una vez que sí pecó por egoísta en una jugada donde disparó en vez de pasar el balón. Estuvo concentrado, con dinamismo, yendo y viniendo. ¡Cómo deben estar extrañandolo en el Porto!

He managed to have shots at goal and I only remember once that he was selfish in a play where he shot instead of passing the ball. He was concentrated, with dynamism, coming and going, how they must be missing him at Porto!
Fue un partido intenso de principio a fin, tal como esperamos de ésta liga de Inglaterra. Un arbitraje fenomenal y modelo para otras ligas importantes de Europa. Dos técnicos alemanes que siguen consagrandose a nivel mundial con estilos de juego que mantienen a los equipos ingleses en la élite del continente. Liverpool supera al Manchester City y actualmente es el mayor ganador en ésta competeción. Wembley es rojo.
It was an intense match from start to finish, as we have come to expect from this English league. Phenomenal refereeing and a model for other major leagues in Europe. Two German coaches who continue to establish themselves worldwide with styles of play that keep English teams among the continent's elite. Yes, no player is infallible, we know that. And I understand that it seems he didn't leave a good impression in the penalty shootout at the Africa Cup. But I think they should have left Mendy in. De los mejores partidos 0 a 0 que se haya podido ver en los últimos tiempos, fue de mucha ida y vuelta constante por parte de los dos equipos. Impresionante como habían tramos donde el Chelsea era el dominante, pero luego empezaba el Liverpool hacer el protagonista y eso es muy bello de ver.
Sabes no sabía lo de Thiago, con razón yo vi la alineación antes de comenzar el partido, estaba titular, luego cuando me coloque a verlo estaba en el banquillo y resulta que fue por una lesión que mal.
El Chelsea desaprovechó muchas oportunidades de gol, ellos tuvieron las más claras y eso le pasó factura perdiendo el partido. Concuerdo que Luis Díaz jugo muy bien, también el portero del Liverpool fue decisivo y a mí también me gustó mucho el partido de Alexander Arnold. Saludos.
Si vale, fueron máximos exponentes del fútbol inglés actual. Me impresionó que la intensidad no bajó en los más de 120 minutos de partidos. Y a pesar de que es una copa que no tiene mucha gsnancia monetaria y ni te lleva a la máxima competencia continental, se lo tomaron muy enserio, y se empeñaron en obtener la copa. Saludos @wensports
Un partido sin goles pero con muchas emociones.
Chalobah parece que tiene la confianza de Tuchel pero en este partido se vio ampliamente superado por el colombiano Luis Diaz, Azpilicueta debía ayudarle mucho para haciendo una marca escalonada luego de que se viera superado con facilidad en varios momentos donde se encontraba cara a cara frente al colombiano.
Tuchel además apostó por la rapidez y la agilidad para superar las dos torres en la defensa del Liverpool, en lugar de lanzar centros donde estos dos tienen siempre el dominio en las alturas prefirió apostar a un juego con el balón en el pie apostando por la velocidad.
Yo en lo particular hubiese puesto a Lukaku, creo que uno de los pocos delanteros que puede hacerle frente a la fuerza de Van Dijk y Matip, funcionando como poster de espaldas al arco y abriendo el juego, bueno, al final no soy técnico (hahaha).
El penal de Van Dijk me impresionó estaba el arquero colocado en el mismo sitio y no pudo tener el reflejo suficiente par sacar el balón, era un misil como bien lo explicas.

Bueno, y la fortaleza de Lukaku que mencionas @joheredia21 se vio reflejado en el tiempo extra, donde se fajó con el nerlandes y ganaba el belga. Y para mi, el gol que le anularon no fue legal. Bueno, fue mi apreciación de la imagen del VAR. Un 0-0 que facil pudo ser un 3-3.
Amigo si bien al principio no contamos con goles para que se definiera el título , los penales fueron pura emoción lastima que el último balón fue a las gradas, por qué si no todavía estuviéramos viendo el partido jejeje.
