Los especialistas en béisbol siempre han expresado que el juego no termina hasta el último out, hasta ese entonces, el equipo que está debajo en el marcador tiene posibilidades de triunfar en su partido. En la tarde noche de este miércoles ocurrieron juegos muy semejantes en donde los ganadores tuvieron que remar a contra corriente para llevarse el gato al agua.
Precisamente uno de esos gatos, me refiero a los Leones de Industriales ya fueron alcanzados por la tercera flecha mortal de los Cazadores artemiseños, mientras que el bosque de los Leñadores no ha habido paz para los Cocodrilos que nuevamente fueron cortados por las filosas hachas de los Leñadores tuneros que le empataron el play off a Matanzas, forzando que esta serie regrese a predios matanceros. A continuación les brindaré lo acontecido este miércoles durante las semifinales de la II Liga Elite del béisbol cubano.
Matanzas 3-4 Las Tunas:
Nuevamente flaqueó el pitcheo de los matanceros en las postrimerías del partido, y esto conllevó a que los tuneros lograrán remontar el partido, influido además por la pésima defensa de los Cocodrilos abriéndole las puertas del empate y la victoria para los Leñadores. Los Cocodrilos comenzaron delante con la ventaja de 3 carreras en las primeras entradas como es habitual, y parecía que lo ocurrido el martes fue obra de la casualidad, sin embargo no fue así, los tuneros como campeones nacionales que son, no se dieron por vencidos y salieron al terreno a descontar y lograron cerrar el partido pero notaban que les faltaba algo.
En la novena entrada y con las esperanzas casi perdidas, ya que habían dos outs en el pizarrón, aprovecharon el descontrol del cerrador de los matanceros, Armando Dueñas, y colocaron un par de corredores en base, empujados por un roletazo de Rafael Viñales y un pésimo tiro del torpedero matancero al plato que le dió la posibilidad a los del balcón del Oriente cubano dejar al campo a los Cocodrilos. Este triunfo tunero hace que la final se traslade nuevamente para el estadio Victoria de Giron de Matanzas.
Artemisa 2-1 Industriales:
La noche tendría reservado un partidazo entre la sensación de la temporada y el equipo insignia del béisbol en Cuba. Primeramente el encuentro estuvo honrado por la presencia del miembro del salón de la fama de Cooperstown, Tony Oliva que lanzó la primera bola del encuentro, siendo además el primero desde Luis Tiant que en 2016 también lanzó la primera bola en el encuentro de Cuba con Tampa Bay Rays, mientras que años más atrás, allá por 1992, el también Hall of Fame Hank Aaron en mi natal Pinar del Río lanzó la primera bola en el legendario Capitán San Luis.
Sin dudas fue un momento muy emotivo ya que además del 3 veces campeón de bateo con los Mellizos de Minnesota, estuvo además escoltado por los estelares Pedro Medina y Rodolfo Puentes. Esto solo sería la antesala de un encuentro matizado por un dominio amplio del pitcheo por parte de los azules con su abridor Raymond Figueredo desde la lomita dominando a diestra y siniestra una ofensiva que en los primeros compases del partido se vio falta de ideas concretas.
Sin embargo, tampoco los Leones pudieron aprovechar las brechas dejadas por los Cazadores e inclusive hasta un corring suicida en la entrada conclusiva para decretar la victoria de los artemiseños. Con la desventaja mínima, los Cazadores salieron con sus flechas para contrarrestar los envíos del cerrador azul Juan Xavier Peñalver que fue castigado primero por doble de Laza y finalmente un sencillo impulsor de José Antonio Jiménez que puso en ventaja a los pupilos de Yulieski González. Para cerrar con broche de oro trajeron al pinareño Livan Moinelo con amplia experiencia en el béisbol japonés y con un extraño doble play lograron triunfar por tercera vez consecutiva en esta Postemporada, poniendo a punto de mate el play off a su favor.
Me atrevo a decir que fue una decisión errónea mandar para el plato al corredor que estaba en tercera que a pesar de significar la potencial carrera de la ventaja no era necesario arriesgarse, y más aún sabiendo que la defensa estaba a la viva con cada jugada. Este triunfo le permite a los Cazadores estar más cómodos pero sin confiarse ya que los Azules son equipos de Postemporada y a ellos hay que matarlos rápido porque le pueden dar un vuelco muy extraordinario a lo que va aconteciendo de momento.
