Pensé mucho en escribir estas líneas por temor a caer siempre en lo mismo pero es que la situación lo amerita, esto al final va a terminar siendo un descargo o desahogo por la pésima y paupérrima imagen que dio la selección nacional en Chile el día martes. Lamentablemente este sentimiento no es nuevo, es uno que se ha venido repitiendo a lo largo de la historia, sobretodo en la clasificación para Brasil 2014. En esa oportunidad nuestro verdugo fue Paraguay, había que ganar para meterse en el repechaje y no se pudo, 1-1 quedó aquello; y el segundo caso fue contra Bolivia en La Paz, íbamos ganando 1-0 pero gracias al "gran" Renny Vega se nos fue la victoria y terminamos empatando también. La Vinotinto nunca ha tenido mentalidad para afrontar los grandes partidos o por lo menos los más trascendentales.

I thought a lot about writing these lines for fear of always falling into the same thing, but the situation warrants it, this will end up being an unloading or venting for the lousy and poor image that the national team gave in Chile on Tuesday. Unfortunately this feeling is not new, it is one that has been repeated throughout history, especially in the qualifiers for Brazil 2014. Los números son lapidarios: más de un año sin ganar, eso se traduce en ocho fechas; Paraguay llevaba solo 2 goles en las eliminatorias, nos hizo 2 en un partido; Bolivia solo había ganado un solo encuentro, nos goleó 4-0 y el martes Chile nos hizo cuatro goles cuando solo habían hecho 5 en toda la clasificación. Y esto sin contar que no pudimos contra un Uruguay que vino con hasta 11 suplentes ni tampoco contra las peor Perú de los últimos años. Algo está pasando, tanto en lo táctico como en lo mental que no nos está permitiendo concretar las grandes citas. Mal parado en cancha, mala lectura de los cambios, terrible planificación de algunos partidos (en El Alto por ejemplo) y poca autocrítica del CT.

Sigamos con más números para que ustedes, amigos que me leen, entiendan la magnitud del fracaso, hasta ahora, de estas eliminatorias. Somos la peor selección, de las 10 sudamericanas, en cuanto a rendimiento después de la Copa América. Estamos de últimos con solo 3 puntos obtenidos, es decir, tres empates. Esto lo digo porque muchas personas dijeron que la Copa América no era el objetivo real, que dicha competición era para preparar y acondicionar a la selección de cara al resto de las eliminatorias. Pues bueno, acá estamos, sin preparación y sin planificación aparente. Esto parece un guión de película de terror pero lastimosamente no lo es, es la realidad que ciclo tras ciclo le ha tocado vivir a La Vinotinto.

Tomás Rincón es un hombre con mucho peso en el vestuario pero su partido fue deprimente e ineficaz, espero que haya quedado claro que el capitán no está para ser titular, por un tema de edad claro está. La posición del Brujo Martínez fue otro error, él no es extremo pero allí jugó dejando solo a Rincón ocasionando que ese medio campo fuese una autopista para los chilenos.

Desatenciones en la defensa, una de las sagas que se habían visto más sólidas, volvieron a fallar con errores de marca y de relleno de espacios; Miguel Navarro otra vez tuvo otro partido para el olvido, de cada 5 partidos tiene uno bueno y 4 malos y es que por su lado llegaron por lo menos 3 goles de los chilenos. Pero acá hay que hacer una salvedad, con Soteldo ganamos mucho desequilibrio ofensivo pero quedamos desnudos en defensa ya que él no baja a apoyar, en este caso a Navarro, y eso es un problema porque ha sido una constante. A Machís por mucho menos se le crucificó contra Paraguay. A raíz de esto es el porqué hablo de la autocrítica. La cosa es que el martes Venezuela no jugó a nada, siempre ha habido una mejora en los segundos 45 minutos pero esta vez vimos un retroceso, una selección quebrada mental, anímica y futbolísticamente.

De esos 18 puntos, hay que sumar MÍNIMO 10 para estar tranquilos. ¿Es posible tal proeza con el nivel que estamos viendo? - el futuro lo dirá. Por lo pronto hasta marzo no tendremos más acción, espero que estos 4 meses haya un examen de conciencia y podamos parar esta humillación y vergüenza que estamos presenciando en cada partido.

Defensivamente el equipo fue horrible y más cuando hay bajas en el medio campo sea por lesión (otra vez) de Yangel, la suspensión por tarjetas de Cásseres (otra vez) o jugar con el limitado Brujo Martínez y lo de limitado no lo digo solamente por la lesión, sino que no ofrece nada futbolísticamente, sino es correr y presionar, pero cuando no puede hacer eso, entonces se convierte en la nulidad personificada, a eso sumo a Rincón que no puede quitar el puesto a ningún otro jugador jóven, ni en la titular, ni en la banca y el poco o nulo compromiso de defender por parte de Soteldo, Savarino y el mismo Segovia y seguro diran "Soteldo no esta para defender, pero debe convertirse en el primer defensor y presionar a la defensa rival.

Lo de Chile fue un mega desastre, las convocatorias deben cambiar, debe haber más opciones porque con la que se hizo este año, no se ganó nada.

Yo no veo a la gente criticando a Soteldo que cuidado no hizo un partido igual o peor que Machis. Entiendo el tema de la calidad ofensiva pero hay que colaborar y Soteldo no es la primera vez que no aporta nada defensivamente. Lo de Rincón fue víctima del esquema del Bocha pero es lo que comentas, hay jóvenes que podían haberle dado otra cara a ese medio campo. Lo he dicho siempre, el tiempo de Tomás se terminó, solo para los últimos 10 minutos y si acaso.

No existimos contra Chile, la peor Chile en años. Tiene que haber un reseteo importante si se quiere seguir peleando.
