Muchas veces hemos escuchado decir que los jugadores no son imprescindibles, si se va uno pues otro vendrá; creo que con Marcelo esta regla no escrita no aplica en lo absoluto. Y esto lo digo porque cuando este lateral izquierdo se fue del Madrid dejó un hueco gigante que hasta el sol de hoy los blancos no han podido llenar. Y es que sustituir a Roberto Carlos parecía que iba a ser una tarea complicada por no decir imposible, nada más alejado de la realidad. El que una vez fue el alumno con el pasar del tiempo comenzó a superar al maestro, lo hizo con velocidad, con goles, son asistencias, con una gran vocación al ataque pero con aún más de la misma a la hora de defender y es que para muchos recién se retiró uno de los mejores laterales izquierdos de la historia de este deporte.

Yo no sé si será el mejor de todos pero en esa lista habría que meter a Roberto Carlos y Maldini y armar el debate. Lamentablemente su retirada no fue la más óptima y es que en el Fluminense, último equipo en donde jugó y con el que ganó una Copa Libertadores, su salida se dio un poco por la puerta de atrás después de tener varios altercados con el técnico del club lo cual desembocó a que rescindieran su contrato. Esto evidentemente no mancha para nada toda su carrera la cual se basa en 30 títulos siendo 25 ganados en la casa blanca. A Marcelo lo único que le faltó ganar fue un mundial ya que en el 2002, cuando fue la última vez que Brasil ganó un mundial, lógicamente era muy joven aún. Es de los pocos con 5 Champions ganadas pero es más exclusivo aún ya que también ganó la Libertadores, lista en la cual solo están brasileros y argentinos.

Yo crecí viendo a Roberto Carlos jugar, aquella combinación entre él y Ronaldo Nazario era legendaria en el Madrid y en la selección. Pero es que después se instalaron dos jugadores que verlos interactuar era poesía, la manera en la que se entendían era única, y si, hablo de Marcelo y CR7. Por ahí leí, no recuerdo el sitio, que el 25% de las asistencias de Marcelo fueron para Cristiano, una barbaridad absoluta. Sin ninguna duda la posición del lateral es la más complicada dentro del fútbol porque tienes que tener la convicción de atacar pero también de defender y eso es algo que Marcelo hacía a la perfección. Cuando quería se lanzaba de lleno al ataque pero después y con el pulmón que le quedaba bajaba a cubrir la posición que había dejado desprotegida.

Con Brasil hay que decir que no fue tan determinante, sólo ganó tres títulos siendo dos de ellos medallas olímpicas, plata y bronce. Dudo mucho que en el fútbol vuelva a existir un jugador como él, creo que por todo lo que aportó y significó para el Madrid no es nada descabellado considerarlo una leyenda. Si que es verdad que hubiese sido mucho más apropiado y cool que se hubiera retirado por la puerta grande con un gran homenaje pero no fue posible. El legado que deja es muy grande y tanto es así que vuelvo y repito, el Madrid todavía está en la busqueda de ese jugador que le pueda jugar esa posición por lo menos con la mitad de la calidad que lo hacía Marcelo. Y es que en efecto, hay jugadores que son irremplazables solo que parece que cuesta algo de tiempo darse cuenta de eso.

Como dices, más allá en como termina su carrera, nada puede tapar la excelente carrera de este gran jugador. Qué pena que no es argentino 😄.
